　本アルバムの「ノー・ワン」は全米チャート１位に輝いただけでなく、ほとんどの楽曲にアリシアの知性が込められ、相変わらず個性的な仕上げになっている。
　ボーナスＤＶＤはハリウッドボウルでのコンサートの３曲が収録されている。ビッグバンドを配しいつに無くジャズっぽいＲ＆Ｂライブに上がっており、個人的にはお気に入りなのだが、曲が途中でカットされてしまうなどあくまでもサンプル。同コンサートのフルＤＶＤの発売が待たれる。続く映像のノー・ワンメイキングはあくまでもおまけ。
　それにしてもグラミー賞を総なめしたアルバム「ソングス・インＡマイナー」の衝撃が凄すぎる。この人は頭が良いだけに何でも器用にこなすが、違った次元の努力でまだまだ伸びるはずだ。

初回限定版は２枚組仕様で、ボーナスCDの内容は

1 Waiting For You Love（未発表）
2 Hurt So Bad（未発表）
3 Superwoman (Live)
4 No One （Curtis Lynch Reggae Remix）

となっています。

個人的な感想としては「深化」したな、と感じました。
前２作と比較するとアップテンポな曲はほとんど無く、バックも生演奏の比重が高くなり、
ありきたりな言い方ですがAlicia Keysの「声」がより存在感を増しています。

思えば00年代のR&Bシーンは「最先端のビート」をいかに取り込むか、に力が費やされてきた部分が多かったのですが
このアルバムは70年代Soulのように「曲・歌」ありき（演奏はシンプル且つパワフル）の構成になっている点も興味深いです。

やはり現代では（良い意味で）異質なアーティストだといえるのではないでしょうか。
良い作品です。

前作”Diary Of Alicia Keys”から4年。商業的には恵まれていた。だが、決して恵まれてはいなかった私生活。この期間の経験は彼女が表現者として、新しいﾚﾍﾞﾙに達するには十分すぎるほど影響力を持つものだったようだ。また、Linda Perryとの出会いも今作の制作に当たって、とても大きな意味を持っているように感じられる。

Lindaとの共作曲は、今までのような”Blackな楽曲”を期待していたであろうﾘｽﾅｰの期待を厭うことなく、鮮烈に裏切ってみせた。こうして作られた作品は、後世においてｽﾀﾝﾀﾞｰﾄﾞになるであろう、と確信させるほどの楽曲の強さと深いﾒｯｾｰｼﾞ性を兼ね備えている。それら以外にも、自ら”ﾌｭｰﾁｬﾘｽﾃｨｯｸﾚﾄﾛ”と呼ぶｻｳﾝﾄﾞを取り入れた彼女なりのR&B作品も収録。いずれのﾀｲﾌﾟの作品においても、Alicia作品すべてに通じる”温かみ”を感じることができ、このことがｱﾙﾊﾞﾑに一貫性を与えてもいる。

ﾗｲﾀｰとしてだけでなく、ｳﾞｫｰｶﾘｽﾄとしても着々と進歩している。少しﾊｽｷｰになった声、広がったﾚﾝｼﾞ、ﾊｲﾄｰﾝで魅せる強さ、時折垣間見える脆さ、といった全ての要素が表現の幅を押し広げていて、生々しい感情が流れ込んでくるようだ。

ﾃﾞﾋﾞｭｰ年にしてｸﾞﾗﾐｰを総なめにしてしまったｱｰﾃｨｽﾄだ。必要以上の期待をされることも無理もない話だ。しかし、彼女はそれらのﾊｰﾄﾞﾙを楽々とｸﾘｱしてきた。そして今作"As I am"は、これからも我々の予想を遥かに上回るｱｰﾃｨｽﾄになるであろうことを期待させる作品なのだ。
