Although not a prolific band, Prefab Sprout's string of '80s and '90s albums remain sharp and intelligent slices of British Pop/Rock that continue to enthrall new and old fans. 突然リリースされた最新2枚組ベスト盤。

内訳はソニー時代にリリースされた6枚のアルバムから37曲を収録したもの。
38カラットコレクションという同じ2枚組のベストが過去にリリースされているので、曲目も被るのでは？と思われがちですが、それら避ける為なのかは判りませんが、1stアルバムの「Swoon」やデモ集である「Protest Songs」から若干多く選出されているのが目に付きます。普通だったらこの手のベストには欠かせない「Jordan:The Comeback」からは少なめであったり、独特のセンスが窺える選曲となっております。

そして、レアトラックが3曲入っているのもポイント。
Disc 1の10「Yearning Loins」、15「Nero The Zero」、Disc 2の13「Donna Summer」は元々はシングルのB面曲だったもので、きちんとした形でリリースされるのは恐らくコレが初めてのはず（「Yearning Loins」のみ、アルバム「Steve Mcqueen」の米盤CDである「Two Wheels Good」にボーナストラックとして収録されていた事がある）。

ファンの間でも探している人の多い貴重な音源であるので、コレは嬉しいプレゼントだと思う。

それから、何処にもクレジットはありませんがきちんとリマスタリングされていて、音もかなり良くなっています。特に初期の「Swoon」「Protest Songs」辺りはかなりクオリティが向上しています。

これで3作目となるベスト盤ですが、侮れない魅力を持つ一作に仕上がっていると思われます。
