11月に発売されたばかりの Age of Empire III アジアの覇王をプレイする
ためには、「Age of Empires III」が必須になる。
同じ買うなら、拡張シナリオ「The War Chief」がセットになった本作が
ちょいとお得。

「Age of Empires」シリーズは、今時のオンラインゲームに比べると、
パッケージ単価が高い気がするが、その分 LAN対戦や、無料の
マッチングサーバー提供など、長く遊べば元が取れているような気がする。

ゲーム（本体）が出た当初はXPのPCを所有していなかったので買えませんでした。この前、たまたま店でみかけてつい購入してしまいました。
AOE2はかなりハマった事があり、他のRTS (リアル タイム ストラテジー) も色々プレイしました。しかし、本家であるAOEシリーズが一番ですね。
やはり、航空機がないからゲームバランスが取れていると思います。
非常に面白いのはわかりますが、価格が高いのでこの評価にしました。
操作性が若干2と違ってたのと、もう少しチュートリアルを親切にして欲しかったですね。
しかし、さすが名作ですね。時間を忘れてしまいます。
まだ、ネットに繋いだことないですがネット対戦も今後是非やってみたいですね。

発売後２年半が経っているのにいまだに飽きないゲームです。
拡張パックも２作出ていますが、その拡張パックの１作目との同梱版となっています。
また、プレイヤーによるコミュニティサイト（AoE3 JP Community）では
頻繁にNewsが更新され、大会情報・イベント情報が簡単にわかります。
夜や週末には有志によるプレイ動画も公開され、プレイしなくても楽しめる要素が一杯です。

ニコニコ動画でも「AoE3解説」というタグで非常にわかりやすい紹介動画が
公開されているので、一度見てみてはいかがでしょうか。

シミュレーション、ＲＰＧ、シューティングゲーム、格闘ゲームなどの
全ての要素が詰まっているともいえるこのゲーム、今までのゲームでは物足りない！
もっと刺激が欲しい！という方にお勧めです。
