文明シミュレーションゲーム「Microsoft Age of Empires III」の拡張パック。本製品では、アジア文明が新たに加わり、舞台をアメリカ大陸からアジア大陸に移して、壮大なスケールの戦いが展開される。アジア3文明は、領事館を通じて他国と貿易をすることが可能。また、時代が1つ進む度に、プレイヤーは「民族の象徴」という特殊建造物を1つ建築することができる。
また、日本の本州に加え、極寒のヒマラヤ、草原の広がるモンゴル、シルクロードや黄河など、合計16の多彩なマップがプレイ可能に。
名立たる戦国武将も登場する波乱のシングルキャンペーンも収録。
また、新たに2つの新ルール「King of the Hill」、「Regicide」を追加。「King of the Hill」は、砦の中にあるタイマーを敵から死守するルールで、頭脳戦を楽しむことができる。「Regicide」では、敵のリーダー(king)を討ち取ることで、ゲームが終了する。

AOE3の拡張版第２弾。

追加文明は日本、中国、インドの３つ。
今までの文明よりもやや癖がありますが、その分の不利益を違い方法でカバー出来る文明になっています。

またヨーロッパや新大陸（アメリカ）よりも身近なのでシナリオは楽しみやすいと思います。
ただし、シナリオにつながりないのに日本、中国、インドの順でしかプレイできず、好きな順でやらせて欲しかったところ。

追加システムは同盟。
他国と同盟を結ぶことで、他国のユニットやテクノロジーの一部を使うことが出来るようになり、戦略が増えました。

本作品を遊ぶためには、AoE III本編が必要となる。
AoEのユニットに、日本、中国、インドのアジア3ヶ国が追加に。
マップも16種類が追加されるが、いかにも古い中国の街並みや、
四川省の山水風の風景、日本の本州、草原の広がるモンゴルなど
など従来とは異なる雰囲気だ。
ゲームバランスにも変化がある。日本の「町の人」は狩猟が
行えない。中国はユニット単体生産ができず「旗軍」という単位
になる。インドの「町の人」の作成には木材が必要、など。
また、次の時代に移るために、民族の象徴が必要な点もこれまでの
文明と大きく異なっている。
キャンペーンにも、徳川家康を父と仰いで育った青年「佐久間吉郎」
となり、徳川家のために命を賭して戦う物語。インドは、東インド
会社に仕える傭兵部隊の「ナニーブ中尉」が、祖国を独立させる
ための戦いに身を投じる物語など、これまでにないアジア視点の
シナリオがはいった。

もっともAoEのおもしろさは他の人との対戦。ネット上のオンライン
対戦では、周りのレベルが高すぎて初心者には対戦相手がいないのが
問題だが、LAN対戦等で友達と遊ぶにはもってこい。プレイには、
Core2Duoと、そこそこハイエンドのビデオカード、1GB以上のメモリが
ほしいところだが、ファンならプレイは必須だろう。
