みどりさんの生演奏をはじめて聴きに行ったとき、最初の１音でイスから転げ落ちそうになりました。音の洪水です。彼女の手にする古いバイオリンから、美しく輝く緑色の宝石が洪水のようにステージにあふれるのが見えたような気がしました。他の誰とも違う、みどりさんだけの音です。
あのとき演奏された曲は、もう一生聞かなくてもいい、この音が至上だ、とすら思いました。
そうそうたる百戦錬磨のオーケストラの、すばらしいメンバー全員の発する音よりも、みどりさんひとりの出す音のほうが「圧倒的に情報量が多い」のです。
あの夜、みどりさんの演奏を全身に浴びながら、自分は確かに遠い星空を漂っていました。
人間技ではない演奏でした。あの異様なまでの集中力。演奏中に声をかけたらそのままいのちを終えてしまうのではないか、と不安になるほどのあのパワー。

このＣＤも類まれな奇跡の名演といえるでしょう。

人間に出せる限界を超えた、やさしさ、慈悲を感じます。
作曲者である大バッハが脳裏で聞いていたに違いない「神の栄光」そのものを実体化させた音です。

今だからできる演奏、というのがあるとしたら、みどりさんが無数の小路を歩いてきた、その心の遍歴をそのままにメロディーに乗せて、人間の偉大さの極北をすら感じさせてくれる円熟の名演、それがこれだと思います。

大バッハに聞かせたかったです。

ライナーには2005年録音とありますが、録音新譜としては、約４年ぶりです。
五嶋みどりさんらしく、やはり上手いなと聴き惚れてしまいました。
バッハの曲の録音はこれが初めてですが、とても良い雰囲気を出しています。
もっと録音して欲しいと思いました。
カップリングで入っているバルトークのソナタ１番は難曲で有名ですが、
それも上手く弾きこなしています。
５年ぐらいしたら、たぶんベスト１００とかで復刻・安価で入手できるでしょうが
この価格でも今入手することをお勧めします。

このバッハは、「音を奏でる」ことの意味を改めて考えさせてくれるような深みのある演奏である。五嶋みどりは、天才少女として壮絶なテクニックをもてはやされた時代を経過して、確実に新たな崇高な境地へ向かっているように見える。特にアンダンテの楽章は、生きとし生けるものの魂に触れるかのような温かな優しさと冷徹な厳しさとを感じるような演奏である。もしかして、五嶋みどりはこの時涙を流しているのではないだろうか....。
これまで私が愛聴していたシェリング、ミルシテイン、グリュミオー、スーク、パールマンなどの名演とも一線を画するような次元を、五嶋みどりの「無伴奏ソナタ第２番」の中に垣間見られたたような気さえする。私は、彼女の音楽に対する姿勢に、いつもストイックで献身的なものを感じるのであるが、彼女の演奏はバッハ無伴奏曲にもっとも素晴らしい形で結実するのではないだろうか。今後の録音を期待して止まない。
