これは日本人によるディラン・カバー・アルバムの世界的傑作だ。和久井氏と私は同じ年齢。ディランのロックを長年聴き続けてきた同志がディランに抱く気持ちには大いに共感する。日本人のディラン体験の蓄積が和久井氏の血肉となって見事に結実し、「表現に向かっていく気持ち」がビンビン伝わる熱い唄・演奏の連続は実に痛快。歌詞の和久井訳もほとんどの曲でつぼを押さえており、日本語ロックとしてしっかり消化されている。原曲の歌詞と一番違うのはルービン・カーターに一言も触れていない「ハリケーン」だが、演奏の熱気がそれぐらいの相違はノック・アウトする。

選曲は「風に吹かれて」から０６年発表の「約束を交わすとき」まで、特定の年代に偏ることなく行われている。特に「ばくの中の男」や「赤い空の下で」を聴けるのが嬉しい。なお、冒頭の「風に吹かれて」は原曲とかなり異なるアレンジで、ニール・ヤング風エレキ・ギターの短いイントロから一転して楽しいレゲェが繰り広げられ、小室等、中山ラビ、あがた森魚等が交代でヴォーカルのリードをとっているのは上の世代に敬意を表する面白い趣向だ。ライナー掲載の小冊子がアルバム・ジャケットとなっているが、この小冊子の表・裏のイラストは浦沢直樹氏によるもの。ディラン・ファンならニヤリとするディラン名作のジャケットの引用あるいはシチュエーションが散りばめられていて、これも眺めて見飽きない。収録曲を紹介しておく。＃１２だけアコギの弾き語りでこの傑作を渋く締める。

　なんとボブ・ディラン公認の「超訳」！
もとの歌詞に捉われず、さりとて逸脱もせず、和久井流にイメージをとらえて仕上げているのが楽しい。かなり冒険的な意欲作！
ライヴで何曲か聴いてはいたが、このスタジオテイクではより鮮明に音が立っており、和久井のヴォーカルが意外にも「繊細」なことがわかる。
アレンジは素直で、原曲に近いもの、初来日をイメージさせるもの、７４年「偉大なる復活」を彷彿させるものなど、バンドの実力を存分に発揮していて、あらためてボブ・ディランの「曲の良さ」を認識させてくれもする。
ジャケットも最高に洒落ていて、ボブの４５周年トリビュートに相応しい、日本のアーティストからのリスペクトとしても世界に誇りたい快作！！
