とうとう80年代にライダーズのアーカイブシリーズも突入しましたね。
久保講堂のバージョンの継続の「スパークリング　ジェントルマン」から
始まる曲群は、痛快だ。
前に20周年の際にＣＤ−ＲＯＭと一緒に付いていたライブ音源ＣＤにも数曲
入っていたので、耳馴染みの音源であったはずだ…。
しかし、通して聞くと（一部続いてないところ等もありますが、）
ホントに新鮮なのである。
そして1980年の幕開けにやったライブの重要性が浮かび上がってくる。
それは、彼ら自身が「オールドウェーブ」へのコンプレックスをどう脱却
していくかの葛藤が本当に手に取るようにわかるからだ。
前年に発売された「モダンミュージック」の曲群を忠実に演奏していく姿と
過去の曲群を解体し、聴衆に「どう？これでも聴くかい？」とばかりに挑戦
していくようなアレンジのコントラストも本当に興味深いところだ。
象徴的なのは、最後部分にさしかかるところで演奏される「火の玉ボーイ」である。
もう無調でノイジーだし、「これ現代音楽っスか？」って感じで、
はちゃめちゃだけどバンドの核のある演奏である。
キングクリムゾンよろしくとばかりに
「秩序と混沌」のはざかいをコントロールしており、すごい不思議な感じだ。
当時見に行った人は、「なんじゃこりゃ！？」と思ったかもしれないが、
現在の私達にとっては非常に斬新なサウンドである。
1980．2．23に彼らは、もはや「彼方」を通り越していたかもしれない。
（そのまんま、地球二回りくらいしたかも！）

次は、ベルコモンズで行われた「カメ万」の発売時のライヴを是非にお願いします！！！
