ホグワーツ5年生となったハリーを出迎えたのは、周囲の白い目と新聞のふざけた見出し。ハリーがヴォルデモートの復活話をでっちあげたと書きたて、ハリー・ポッターならぬハリー・プロッター(策略家)と糾弾する始末。更に悪いことに、魔法省大臣コーネリウス・ファッジが闇の魔術に対する防衛術の新任教師として送り込んで来たドローレス・アンブリッジの“魔法省お墨つき”の授業は、ホグワーツに迫り来る闇の魔術に対しては不十分であった。そこでハリーはロンとハーマイオニーに説得され、有志を集めて“ダンブルドア軍団”を結成、厳しい監視の目をかいくぐりながら、きたる壮絶な決戦に備えるべく秘密の訓練を開始する。

   このシリーズ第5作は、監督にデイビッド・イエーツという新たな才能を迎え、ドラマ性を重視しようとする製作側の意図が感じられる。オープニングからして、過去4作のテイストとはガラリと変わっているのだ。今回の物語の中心は、ハリーの苦悩。マグル（人間）界で魔法を使ったことによるホグワーツ退学の危機、そのホグワーツでは魔法省が派遣した新教師アンブリッジが君臨し、ハリーは悪夢にうなされ続ける。ヴォルデモートの復活や、大切な人の死などドラマチックな展開は原作に忠実だが、ロンが監督生となり、クィディッチで活躍するエピソードがばっさり切られている点は、原作ファンには寂しいかもしれない。
   ビジュアルでは、やはりシリーズ初登場の「魔法省」が必見。ロンドンの地下に巨大空間が広がり、大勢の魔法使いが行き交うシーンは圧巻である。また夜のロンドンの飛行シーンはロマンチックだし、J.K.ローリング自身が映画のためにデザインしたブラック家の家系図にも目を奪われる。その分、空を飛ぶ魔法生物のセストラル、巨人グロウプや、半人半獣のケンタウロスなどのCGキャラに想像を超える驚きはない。新登場のキャストで最も輝いているのは、新星エバナ・リンチが演じるルーナ・ラブグッド。ファーストキスをするチョウ・チャン以上に、ハリーに寄り添う相手であることが、この映画版でより強調されている。全体としては、膨大な量の原作を2時間18分に収めたことに作り手側の苦心が感じられ、納得の仕上がりではないだろうか。（斉藤博昭）

不死鳥の騎士団が結成されたのは２度目。
前回は、ネビルの両親とハリーの両親もいた。
今回は、ネビルとハリーが活躍する。
新たに登場するホグワーツのルーナも参加。
大人では、トンクス。
闇の魔術の防衛術は、アンブリッジ。
３人の立場の違う女性が、それぞれの役割で活躍。
これまでとひと味も違う物語になっています。

PSPのUMD Videoが新作で1380円と安かったので、買って見ました。これからもこれくらいの価格でリリースしてくれると買いやすいです。
映画自体はハリーポッターシリーズの中では前作に負けないくらい面白かったです。
UMD Videoの画質は体感としてPSPのメモリースティック動画（MPEG-4 768kbps)をSD画質とするならUMD VideoはHD 画質くらいはあり、ブロックノイズはまったくなく非常にきれいな画質です。
音質は2.0chですが、ヘッドホンでは迫力のある音声で楽しめます。
DVDに比べると音声はすこし臨場感がすこし狭く感じますが、ノイズなどは全然なく通常のMoraなどの音楽配信並みの音質はあるように感じます。
DVDのようにテレビをつけ、プレーヤーにディスクをセットしてそれからやっと視聴するスタイルと違い、UMDではディスクをセット後、XMBからVideoを選択して2〜3秒で視聴できます。
このレスポンスの速さが良いですね。寝ながらでも見れます。

1作目の「賢者の石」の頃は単純にファンタジー映画という感じだったけど、だんだん子供に見せるのはためらう様なシーンが増えてきているような気がしました。

これについては、制作者側も意識はしているようです。

今回ハリーの父親の学生時代の様子が出てきたり、ハリーとウォルデモート卿との秘密の一端が出てきたり”そうだったんだ。。”思うところもあり興味深く見ることができました。

しかし、まだ完結まで2作もあるのかと思うと、「長いな。。。」というのが正直なところです。
