まさに、答えがないメッセージアルバム。
「花の色は真っ白く濁ってた」「何にも持ってないけど全てがあったんだ」「未完成を造り上げる」
対比や矛盾によって綴られる日常を暖かでアコースティックな音色とデジサウンドが作り出す音楽にのせて歌う、「世界で一番嫌いなこと」。真実のど真ん中を抉るのではなく、回りから浮き彫りになっていくような感触だ。
「勇気の花」「微熱少年」「アンテナ」。どこをとっても無機質な情熱に溢れている。どの曲も言い得て妙というか、言葉のひとつひとつが、核心を突かずして心に響く。リズムだらけのインスト曲もまた象徴的である。
実験的でありいい意味で欠落感も感じるが、岩崎の絶妙な歌声はもちろん、アレンジや小谷美紗子をはじめゲストミュージシャン達も素晴らしく、確実に名盤といえる作品ではないだろうか。


「微熱少年」の一節
「答えなんてあると思うなよ」
繰り返すように曖昧なまま過ぎていく日々のなか、なんだか、この言葉に救われた気がする。

セカイイチ１年半ぶりのニューアルバム。
前々作、前作とは異なるエッセンスの作品となった。

セカイイチはその良さを伝えるのが難しいバンドの一つだ。
なぜなら彼らの個性というのははっきりと判るものではなく、
内側からにじみ出てくるような、独特の個性なのだ。
いってしまえば、彼ら自身が個性的だからとしか今の自分では表現できない。

このアルバムは今までの土臭く熱いロックから一転、少しクールダウンしたような
ゆったりしたサウンドと平熱に戻ったような冷静な歌詞が目立つと感じる。
特に頭の３曲、「勇気の花」「さいぎしん」「微熱少年」の畳み掛けが凄い。
全く特別なことや奇抜なことをやってないし、過激でもないのに
とてもインパクトや鋭さを感じる質感の３曲になっている。
サウンドもゆったりした、でも切れのあるちょっと他にはない質感なので
とても新鮮だし、また歌詞の世界も今まで以上にシニカルで情熱的なのだ。
「さいぎしん」という曲は楽曲自体はまるで水のように艶やかで流れるような
サウンドなのだが、正に水をさすように歌詞が苦く、批評性のあるものになってて驚く。
そしてこのアルバムの後編では前半の押しから一転、引くかのように静かで内省的な
部分も多く含んだ前半以上にしっとりとした楽曲で締められている。

このアルバムでキーポイントとなっているのはシングルにもなった
「RAIN/THAT/SOMETHING」という曲だと思う。この曲は真ん中に入っているのだが
ちょうど軸のような、一本の太い芯みたいな役割を担っている感じがするのだ。
また曲調的にもこのアルバムで一番キャッチーなため、正にブレークポイントというか、
何かが弾けたような感触を味わえる絶妙な配置だ。

個人的にこのアルバムは派手ではないが、クールなのに温かいエッセンスを感じる
セカイイチの最高作の一つになったと思う。かなり中毒性の高いアルバムかと。
