元・弁護士だった小説家ジョン・グリシャム原作の映画化。

ストーリーは、上院議員殺しの真相を知る弁護士の自殺を目撃してしまった主人公の少年マーク・スウェイが、自分と家族を守るため、たった１ドルで女弁護士レジー・ラブを雇い、マフィアの手から逃れようとするというもの。

ジャンルは、法廷サスペンス。

この映画は、見ていて「２時間があっという間」に経ってしまいました。
すごく面白いです。

主人公の少年マーク（ブラッド・レンフロ）とレジー（スーザン・サランドン）のやりとりを軸に、テンポ良くストーリーが展開していきます。

手に汗握る場面あり、感動のラスト！
最後のマークとレジーの会話のシーンは、名場面です。

残念ながら無くなってしまったブラッド･レンフロ。（まだ２０代なのに・・・）
その彼が、事件の鍵を握るマークを演じています。
生意気なんだけど、レジー（スーザン・サランドン）との出会いで
どんどん大人っぽく。
何度観ても面白く、最後にホロっとくる映画。

ある午後、11歳の少年マーク・スウェイ(ブラッド・レンフロ)は、8歳の弟リッキーと一緒に、隠れてタバコを吸う為に近くの森に行く。そこで2人は偶然、自殺しようとしている男を目撃する。
マークは男に気づかれてしまい自殺の道連れを強いられ、マフィアに殺された上院議員の死体の隠し場所を告げられる。
男の隙をついて逃げ、泣きじゃくるリッキーを抱えて陰に隠れるが2人を追ってきた男がピストル自殺を遂げるのを見てしまう。
マフィアは彼をマークし出し、察官ロイ・ファルトリッグ(トミー・リー・ジョーンズ)もFBIとともにマークを追求する。
マークは自分と家族を守るために弁護士を雇うことを思いつき、全財産の1ドルで彼が依頼したのは、過去を持つ女弁護士のレジー・ラブ(スーザン・サランドン)だった。
　
何が凄いって、マークのたくましさです！
ツェッペリンのＴシャツなんか着て、ちょっと生意気なところもあったりするのですが、弟思いの優しい子なんです。
そして、冷静だしどんなピンチも乗り越えてしまう強さが凄いっ！
この映画を観ながら、「ウチの息子も、このくらいたくましくなれたらな〜・・・」と、思ってしまいました＾＾；
トミー・リー・ジョーンズと、スーザン・サランドンの演技も派手ではないけど、上手いな〜!!と感心してしまいました。
