ヨーロッパでは，この録音にあまり好意的な評価は見られない．理由は Karajan と違い過ぎるからだ，と言う．しかしそれは驚くべき不見識である．Prokofiev はオーケストラの前面に立つ弦五部のスクリーンを必要としない．特にこの第五はクラリネットとトランペットが主役で，全体がオーケストラのための協奏曲として書かれているので，弦の存在が目立つのはよくないのである．それなのに Karajan も Ozawa も弦を強調して，ロマン派風の古めかしい曲にしてしまっている．Jurowski はオリジナル通りその愚を犯していない．Pentatone は録音において玉石混交だが，この CD は透明度の高い良質な録音で，大太鼓からトライアングルまでよく聞こえる．この曲がこれほど美しく聞こえた例は私は他に知らない．モダニストとしての Prokofiev がここには確実に存在する．推薦．
