ゲッツのアルバムは色々ありますが、そのなかでもこのＣＤは出色です。ピアノがエバンス
ドラムがエルビンとそれぞれ最高の共演者をえて、いつものメロウで流れるようなフレージングで、どの曲も聞きほれる仕上がりになっています。録音も良くゲッツの温かみのあるテナー
の音を良く捕らえており、聞いているだけで心地よさに満たされます。

当製品は、SHM-CD(Super High Material CD)としての高音質が「売り」のようですが、本当でしょうか？
小生は、所持する米国レギュラー盤CD（Verve 833802-2）の方が、遥かに音が素直だと感じます。

比較の結果、「米国盤を良し」とする理由は、
(1) リミッターが掛かったようなダイナミックレンジの狭さが無く、Elvin Jonesのタムの質感やシンバルの輝きが生々しい点。
(2) 次に、Evansのタッチ。特に左手のブロックコードが明瞭で、弦の響きに濁りが無い点。
(3) バラード（５曲目"MERINDA"）では、Getzのむせび泣くようなビブラート、上昇するテナーと下降するベースラインによる対位法的メロディーの再現などが、難なく聴き取れる点。
(4) 各楽器の定位が立体的で、決してモタツキが無い点。
何といっても、グルーブ感（魂）があり、音楽と一体になれる点です。

感想・・・本作品に限らず、総じて「日本盤よりも輸入盤が良い！」と確信します。

Stan GetzとBill Evansのコラボレーション。最高の共演者でどの曲もある程度ぐっと聞けるし、心地よさを味わえる。でも、どうしても「But Beautiful」の方がいいんじゃないかという気がします。その点を差し引いて星4つ。
