   アニタ・オデイの傑作は1950~60年代のヴァーヴ時代に集中しているが、なかでも『ジス・イズ・アニタ』とともにヴァーヴ時代の名作、というよりアニタ生涯の代表傑作として人気の高い作品が56年に録音した本作。

   オスカー・ピーターソン、ハーブ・エリス、レイ・ブラウンといった腕利きのミュージシャンが集まったコンボを相手に、彼らと対等に渡り合うアニタのジャズ・スピリット、ジャズ・センスがまずもって素晴らしい。同じ名作でも『ジス・イズ・アニタ』の格調高いエレガントな雰囲気と違って、本作はジャズ・クラブにでもいるようなリラックスしたムードが特徴だ。

   スキャットをまじえアップ・テンポで歌う< 8 >が圧巻で、この曲ではドラマーとのスリリングなフォー・バースも楽しめる。一方、しっとりと歌うバラードも味わい深く、このアルバムにはアニタの魅力がぎゅっと集約されている感じだ。個性的なフレージング、ハスキー・ヴォイスの魅力もアニタならでは。当時のアニタは30代の半ばで、歌手としてもっとも光り輝いていた。（市川正二）

1957年リリースのアニタの中でも最もジャジィーなアルバムです。全11曲まとまりあるスタンダードが収録されているので、リラックスしながら聞くのにいいですよ。肩のこらないお勧めの一枚です。独特の口を大きく開けて歌うアニタの歌声はハスキーで、当時37歳のおとなのムードが漂うなんとも言えない、現代でも充分に魅力を感じさせます。

むちゃくちゃイイ。私はｊAZZにはぜんぜん縁がなかったけど、
このCDに出会って聞くようになりました。

JAZZやヴォーカル物が好きな人で、聞いたことがない人には
ぜひぜひぜひ聞いてほしい。

浮き沈みもあるけれど、それをも魅力にしているアニタ、
本当に素敵です。
まじめに全部素敵ですが、I GOT WORDS ON THE STRINGSと
Be　Withcedは特にオススメのバラードです。

軽く転がる、重みのない声が気持ちいい。技量的にはいろいろ意見があるようだけれど、粘つかず、さらりと、ころころ歌うアニタは、楽器になっているような気さえする。
