映画そのものの出来は文句なしの５つ星。

ところが、このDVDの日本語字幕の処理がいい加減すぎる！

本作の最大の良さは軽妙な会話のやりとりなのに、このDVDの日本語字幕によってそのリズムが狂わされてしまい、作品に集中できなくなってしまう。
劇場で２度見てこの作品の虜になり、やっとDVDを手に入れることができて劇場で味わったあの感動を再度味わおうと思ったのに、この日本語字幕のせいで楽しめず非常に残念だ。

字幕の悪さで定評のあるこのシリーズですが、他の方も書いている通り、あまりにお粗末です。字幕を出すタイミングが悪いのは勿論ですが、Lieutenant を中佐と訳したり、男の台詞なのに「〜ですわ」と女言葉になっていたり、途中で登場人物の名前の表記が変わっていたり、単純ミスが目立ちます。「天使」「青髭八人目の妻」「ニノチカ」など、この時期のルビッチ作品は粒揃いで、その中でも傑作である本作がこの状態では残念としか言いようがない！ただ、画質が良く、値段も安いことですし、買って損するということはありません。まだ見たことのない方なら廃盤にならないうちに購入することをお勧めします。優れた映画というのはたとえどんな状態であってもその真価を発揮するものです。映画が始まった途端にルビッチ・タッチに魅了されること間違いなしです！

画質はとっても綺麗なのですが、字幕がダメです。さほどテンポが速いわけでもない会話でもいちいち二人の会話を2段で同時に出すので非常に見難く、作品に没頭できません。セリフのやりとりが中心の作品ですので会話のリズムが非常に重要なのです。つまり字幕のリズムも大事だと思うのです。せっかくの名作が台無しで非常に残念です。なぜこんなおかしなことをするんでしょうか？字幕を作り直して再発してほしいですね。

※私はどちらかというと神経質なタチですし人によってはまったく問題ないかもしれませんがご参考までに。昔のビデオ版も観ていますがそちらは問題ないです。わけのわからない改悪には首を傾げざるを得ません。
