メジャー盤から外されがちな名曲が多数収録されていてボクには貴重なコンピ集です。

様々なジャンルの音楽を100曲、4〜5枚のCDに詰め込んで廉価でリリースする「ベスト100」シリーズ、我が国でも数多くのボックスがリリースされ好セールスを記録しているようだが、この流行は海を渡りイギリスではなんとそれ専門のレーベルまで出来てしまった。

「100 Hits」レーベルからリリースされた80年代ヒット曲集は、その名のとおり80年代のヒット100曲を5枚のCDに収録したボックス、これで2,000円前後だからかなりお得。イギリス編集なので当然のことながらUKヒット（アメリカではヒットせず）が多く「これってもしかして20年ぶりくらいに聴くかも・・」という曲が次々と登場し、非常に懐かしい思いにさせられる。

選曲方針はポップな曲調を優先（なにしろ1曲目がA-HAの「Take on Me」なのだ）、R&Bは控えめ、ハウス系のダンス・ナンバーも控えめ。ネオアコ〜ギターポップ系のヒットも多数収録されており、当時アメリカもの一辺倒だった僕などは「あ、当時こんな雰囲気もあったんだったなー」と改めて勉強になったり。

80年代当時、毎日のようにMTV番組にかじりついていた世代には身悶えしたくなるようなヒットを多数収録。既に80年代ものコンピを何種類かお持ちの方にも、新鮮な内容のボックスになっております。
