　雪景色のうつくしいクリスマス休暇。マカリスター家の大家族がパリ往きの飛行機に乗ったが８歳のケビンを家に置き去りにしてしまった。休暇を取り消そうにも飛行機は満席で戻ることもできない。一方でケビンは好きなチーズピザを注文したりしてけっこう楽しんでいる。
　ハリー（ジョー・ペシ）とマーブ（ダニエル・スターン）はクリスマスシーズンの留守家庭をねらう間抜けな泥棒。マカリスター家にしのびこむがケビンに散々な目に遭う。ジョー・ペシはギャング映画よりもコメディの方がいい。ふたりのズッコケ振りがおもしろい。
　クリス・コロンバス監督の職人技はさすが。ストーリーはよどみなく、隣家のおじいさん、売れないバンドの太ったおじさん、スーパーのレジ係にいたるまで脇役もきっちりときまっている。脇役といえばこの映画ではクモも仕事をしている。アメリカの映画は動物の使い方がうまい。音楽も気持ちよくほんとうに楽しめる映画。続編の「ホームアローン２」はまさに傑作でさらに磨きがかかった。

今の日本にはない家族愛満載の暖かいクリスマスホーム映画です。ぜひ家族みんなで見て下さい。クリスマスはどうしても異性と過ごさなきゃ孤独なんて思ってないですか?家族を忘れていませんか?異性とクリスマスを過ごせない自分はひとりぼっちなんて情けない事を言うくらいだったらコレを見て欲しいです。
クリスマスは誰にでも優しくなれる。
おもちゃやお菓子など色々なものがでてくるしクリスマスソングも良いです。教会の讃美歌が凄く綺麗でした。まるで天使の歌声です。

僕にとってホームアローンはとても記憶に残る映画です。僕が十代の頃家族が揃ってみるクリスマスのハリウッド映画は毎年のように作られていて戦争映画 カンフー映画 ホラー映画と並んでお茶の間を楽しくさせる作品群だったと思います。今ではディズニーの独断市場ですが昔はそんな時代があったんです。三人のゴースト 星の王子ニューヨークへ シザーハンズ どれも語りだすと話題がつきない程素晴らしい作品達で見て映画があった次の日は学校の休み時間はその話題一色でした。ホームアローンは家族に取り残されたカルキン君が家を守ろうとする映画ですごく今の暗い事件を天使のように描いた作品だったように思えます。楽しかったあの時代最後のクリスマス作品ホームアローン。忘れたくない作品の一つです。
