「ブリテン島」「東欧」「中東」「中央アメリカ」を舞台とする、4つの新キャンペーンを備えた「メディーばる2:トータルウォー」の拡張キット。予測プレイ時間は75時間。13の勢力、150以上の部隊が新たにプレイ可能。
本編「メディーバル2:トータルウォー」よりも、実際の歴史上で起こった多くの出来事がゲームの中で再現され、各地域の地理や、特徴、歴史、文化がより細かく描写される。また、本編ではAI制御だった「援軍」に、指令を
出すことが可能になった。巨大な規模の戦闘でも全軍を指揮することができる。
また、「十字軍キャンペーン」では「英雄キャラクター」が登場。戦闘パートにおいて、英雄キャラクターたちはそれぞれ固有の特殊能力を持ち、また、それぞれ固有のグラフィックで描かれる。「ブリタニアキャンペーン」では、マップ上に砦を自由に配置可能。配置した砦を攻撃拠点、防御拠点とすることによって戦略の幅が大きく広がる。
