昨年10月から今年の4月にかけて、香川県香川郡直島町の地中海美術館を中心に、町全体で開催された展覧会『直島スタンダード2』に出展したインスタレーション作品の完全版をリリースした兄デイヴィッド・シルヴィアン。そのデイヴィッドが設立したレーベル「サマディ・サウンド」から放った自身初となるソロ・アルバムで、美しく緻密な音世界を見事に表現し切った弟のスティーヴ・ジャンセン。

元ジャパン（この形容詞も必要ないか！）ドラマー：スティーヴ・ジャンセンの初ソロ・アルバム。

内容的にはインストルメンタル曲が主に占めていますが、実兄デヴィッド・シルヴィアンもボーカルで参加しています。
インスト曲も兄シルヴィアンのような、効果音やサンプリング・ノイズなどの”アンビエント”と言った感じではなく、メロディラインがあり、音楽として聞けます。
欲を言えば、１曲ぐらい盟友ミック・カーンと組んで、ブビバビ、ベースと激しいドラミングを聞いてみたかったです。（兄の主催レーベルなので無理か･･･）

全体的に軽やかな雰囲気なので、結構おすすめです。

「初」には改めて驚いてしまいますが、
常にドラマー兼ソングライター兼ボーカリスト、で通してきたのではない１ドラマーが
ソロ作品を出すのはそう簡単ではないと思いますが。
やっぱり感無量かも。

通して聴くと静謐すぎて、、

・１曲位は、歌って欲しかった！
　ドルフィンブラザーズの頃の案外ポップな歌声を思い出すと、　
　この年になったスティーブの「今の声」を聴きたかったです。
　でもお兄さんのゴージャス極まりないボーカルと比べたら
　自分の声を素直すぎてつまらないし、と思っているかも。

・１曲位は、洗練されすぎてないドラムを聴きたかった！
　READYMADE名義の「SUGARFUEL」の格好良さ、あの「めくるめく」ドラム。
　あんな風なのもやってほしかったです。

以外にもジャンセン、初のソロなんですね。
音数といい、雰囲気といい、ヴォーカル起用といい、すべてドンピシャ。
実に無駄がない。
今年に入ってもずっとipodに入ってます。
