私はブラジリアンな音楽のことも、
アルトゥール・ヴェロカイという人のことも、
詳しくありません。

でも、私が好きなDJさんが絶賛していた曲、
BISを聴いて、このアルバムを買いました。
とにかくBisという曲が大好きなんです。
ホーンが奏でるあったかいメロディに、
せつないストリングス、その上に
男女のツインヴォーカル。
普遍性を持った素敵な曲なんです。
クラブで聴くのもすごく気持ち良い曲。

このアルバムはそのBisの
Remix（このバージョンも大好きです）も収録しています。

他の曲もとても爽やかで、癒されるアルバム。
ボサノヴァっぽいのだけれどもっとグルーヴィーであるような気もします。
アコースティック・ギターの爽やかな音は風を思わせます。
ゆったりと渡っていく風のようにやわらかく、せつなく、なつかしい。

休日の午後に聴いていたい。そんなアルバムです。

　アルトゥール・ヴェロカイって、誰だ？？
　全く未知の名前だったが、共演のアジムスとイヴァン・リンスを聞きたくて、購入してみる。
　ところが！　とんでもない大穴、大傑作だったのだ！

　ライナーを読むと、彼はイヴァン･リンスと同い年で、彼のデビュー当時から手伝っていたという。
　あわてて、手元にある「モード・リーヴリ」を調べてみると、あ、ありましたありました。アルトゥール・ヴェロカイって、しっかりクレジットされてるじゃん！
　おまけに、日本版ライナーでもしっかり触れられている。それによると、実質的な当時のバンド・リーダー格だったらしい。

　プロデュース、アレンジ、作曲、そしてギター演奏もこなすアルトゥールは、他にも沢山のミュージシャンの裏方として活躍してきたらしい−−おそらく、手持ちのブラジルＣＤを調べれば、まだまだクレジットは発見できるだろうけど−−リーダー作は、１９７２年にファースト（今ではカルト的人気を誇っているらしい）を出して以来、数年前にやっと２枚目、そして本作がわずか３作目なのだそうだ。

　しかし、内容は、とにかくすばらしい。超一級のブラジリアン・クロスーヴァー・ソウル／レア・グルーヴ満載なのだ！　はっきりいって、アジムスやイヴァンとのコラボなんてどうでも良くなってしまった。
　全曲、ヴェロカイのオリジナルで、ギターも弾く。これがかなり上手い。
　曲調としては、ちょっとイヴァン・リンスにも共通する、ちょっとナイーヴでマイナーな感じが一番の持ち味とも感じる。ホーンやストリングスや女性コーラスがはいっても、決して音楽が脂肪過多にならない。どこか、スッキリ感がある。
　個人的には「Ｂｉｓ」がベスト。ちなみに、イヴァン・リンスが参加しているのは「Ｆｉｌｈｏｓ」で、ヴェロカイのギターとのデュオです。

　とにかく、多くのブラジル音楽ファンに試していただきたい逸品。私的には、本年度の出会いナンバー１・アーティスト候補です。

サブ・タイトルの「ＦＥＡＴＵＲＩＮＧ ＡＺＹＭＵＴＨ＆ＩＶＡＮ ＬＩＮＳ」という文字を見つけてこのアルバムに興味を持った方、買いです。中身は ブラジリアン・スムース・ジャズっぽい曲から、かつてのセルジオ・メンデス＆ブラジル６６を彷彿させるような曲、イヴァン・リンスの語りかけるような優しいヴォーカルが光る曲、さらには クインシー・ジョーンズの「ソウル・ボサノヴァ」を連想させる曲まで実に多彩です。
全体には少し近年のマルコス・ヴァーリにも近いイメージですが、一曲々々に変化があってそろぞれが個性的であるのにもかかわらず、彼のカラフルなギターとブラジリアン・アレンジがとても柔らかく、それがアルバムの統一感を出しています。
