レンタル店に無料レンタルで置いてあるか、土曜の午後にテレビで映画宣伝用の特番として放送されていてもおかしくない内容。ひみつ…といってもあからさまに続編の宣伝材料である。こんな商品を作らなくてはならないほどに貧窮しているのだろうか？一度で何度も美味しい商売を狙うのは良いが、三丁目の夕日という作品が良いだけに潔い販売活動をして欲しいと思う。これではイメージダウンだ。

ALWAYS三丁目の夕日の続編を、劇場で見る前に紹介するために制作されたDVD。舞台裏の状況や監督・俳優へのインタビュー、予告編などを収録。DVD表面は昔のレコードを模しており、付録としてメンコがついている。

通常のDVDに収録されている特典映像は、本編の後に見ることを想定しているため、重要なシーンにたいしても踏み込んだ解説がなされているが、本DVDは劇場版を見る前に購入する場合も多いため、せいぜい予告編程度の中途半端な内容に抑えられている。値段も他の映画の廉価版DVDよりも高いくらいでこの内容では満足する購入者は皆無であろう。現に、内容はTVで放映された特別番組と重複しており、購入する意味は全くないと思う。

ALWAYS三丁目の夕日および続編は面白かっただけに、それをダシにして楽な商売で儲けようとする手法はどうかと思う。以前マイノリティーリポート（トムクルーズ主演）などは予告編DVDを無料サンプルとして配布していたが、宣伝費とわりきっておかしな市場主義に走らない方がいいと思う。相当なイメージダウンでファンはがっかりすると思う。甘く評価しても星２つまでが限界。
