4枚組ボックスセット「THE GREAT DECEIVER」の3枚目と4枚目を
セットにした再販。

今や幻のボックスセット
（ジャケットワークは魔術師のコンセプトで非常に素晴らしい）

内容は、ロックを全く知らなくても、１枚もロックのＣＤを持っていなくても、
この4枚のライブアルバムを聴けばいい、というような性質のもの。

Ｒ・フリップは、話している。
自分は世界最高のロックバンドを作ろうとクリムゾンを結成したが、
1969年と1974年にそれを達成したと。
後者がこの時期、
このライブアルバムで聴くことができる音源。

「THE GREAT DECEIVER」の聴き所はいくつかあるが、
スタジオアルバムの曲として聴いていた「THE NIGHT WATCH」が
美しさ・切なさ・叙情性がそのままに、ライブで数回
（つまり何度も）再現されていることも、そのひとつ。

そしてこの「VOL.2」最大の聴き所は、「Starless」が終わり、
「The talking drum」〜「Lark's tongue in Aspic 2」へとなだれ込み
完結する部分だろう。

ありったけの緊張感と推進力が、最高の至福の状態で解放される。
それはこのアルバムが鳴り響くことだけでしか、
体験することも、表現することもできない種類のなにものか、だ。
