１９６６年、スプートニクス初来日の際のライブ。東京・サンケイホールでの録音。
このとき、私は日比谷公会堂で彼らの演奏会を聴いた。当時のアンプやＰＡは、今から見れば極めてシンプルなものだった。だが、彼らのギターの音色は、レコードと同様、澄んだ美しいサウンドであった。また、意外にも、彼らのヴォーカルが上手だったことを思い出す。
ＣＤで聴いてみると、マイクのセッティングが極めて遠い（マイク・オフ）のが気になる。実際に会場で聴いた音よりも、こもった音で捉えられており、生々しい雰囲気が伝わってこないのだ。もう少し録音が良ければと思うと残念ではある。
しかしながら、スプートニクスのアルバムが繰り返しリリースされていることは喜ばしい。まだまだファンがいるということで、嬉しい限りだ。
