ASA-CHANGの大地を揺らすドラムソロの迫力に導かれ、ビッグバンドがうねるようなスピードでスウィングしてゆく「Lover come back to me」で先ず胸が高まりました。ブルーハッツのアンサンブルは歌心鮮やかで、各ソロパートも非常に人間味溢れた楽しさを伝えてくるんです。更にその中で生き生きと歌を跳ねさせる畠山氏のスウィングの凄いこと。“Oh Lover！”で舞い上がる高揚感は最高です。又それはしっとりした声で抑制的にジャズやソウルを奏でてきた彼女だからこその、上品さを伴った一流のボーカルショーだったと思います。
一方「君恋し」での氏は、日本人の心が表れた旋律を非常に繊細に歌い、儚く艶かしい表情で迫ってきます。又それをスカのリズムで織り込むので、昭和モダンな華麗さがありました。「小さな木の実」も切なさの内に秘める芯の部分を表せる歌声が聴き所ですし、モンローの「Diamonds are a girl’s best friend」は耽美的な声が活きます。他方「Somethin’ stupid」ではリリー・フランキーの穏やかな美声に驚き。

ハイライトは「津軽のふるさと」。バンドはゴルゴダの丘に向う程の厳しさで北国の冬を表すようです。氏の音色はその中でじっと耐え忍ぶりんごの木のように、奥に秘めた芯の強さと、恋焦がれる故郷の景色を思わせます。“海は青く”や“夢は遠く”の描き方を歌好きの方は是非聴いて頂きたい。溜めや粘り腰を持ちつつも儚さを旨とし、最後まで張り詰めた本当に感動的な演奏でした。

「Never will I marry」の華美、「In the still of the night」の神業のようなタッチ、そして「私の青空」“狭いながらも楽しい我が家”でのファニーな表情、音楽が兎に角多彩です。「浜辺の歌」は氏のたおやかな声がこの曲を歌うためにあるようでした。

7月にリリースされた米国の有名なプロデューサJesse Harrisのもとで作られた「Summer Clouds, Summer Rain」以来、畠山美由紀の今年2枚目となるアルバムです。天才ドラマーASA-CHANGとのFUJI ROCK FESTIVAL '07の共演がきっかけに結成されたスペシャルユニット「畠山美由紀 with ASA-CHANG＆ブルーハッツ」の名義で発売される「わたしのうた」。その名前通り、アルバムに収録されている曲はすべて畠山による選曲で、ジャズスタンダードから歌謡曲までジャンル問わずにセレクトされた唄はビッグバンド風にリアレンジしてリスナーの私たちに届けます。

個人的ですけど、私は「Summer Clouds, Summer Rain」よりこのアルバムのほうが好きです。まだ発売されてないのにそう言えるのは私は前作より今作のほうではもっとやる気とエナジーが感じれるし、畠山自身もレコーディングの時はより楽しんでいるように聴こえられるからと思っています。「Summer Clouds, Summer Rain」よりはこの「わたしのうた」を勧めます。

某ＣＤショップにひやかしで入ったとき、このＣＤが店内にガンガンに流れていました
店内をブラブラしていると、やがて６曲目の「津軽のふるさと」になりました
異様なストリングスに、迫力あるプラスの重低音、大正ロマンを感じさせるような
妖艶なボーカル、一発でやられました
それまで畠山美由紀という存在も知らなかった私が、これ一発でやられてしまいました
ダマされたと思って「津軽のふるさと」きいてみてください、そこのアナター
こんな作品、こんな歌唱力、一生に何度も味わえるもんではありません
この異様なストリングスとプラスアレンジ、絶妙な感情表現のボーカルヴォイス
ニールヤングの「世界がある」に、通ずるものがあると感じましたよ
私にとってこのアルバム、「津軽のふるさと」一曲でＯＫ
一発で、ダウンさせられました
