繊細なアレンジメントとダイレクトなアタック感を融合させたハウス系トラック、心地よくも意外性に満ちた転調を繰り返す曲構成(間奏ではいきなりジャズ・サウンドが挿入される)なかで歌われるのは、「プライベイトも切り売り」してしまうフェイク・スターの生活。言うまでもなく「POP STAR」のアンサー・ソングなのだが、個人的には歌詞のユニークさ(どこまでが本音で、どこまでが冗談なのか…)よりも、新しいサウンドにトライしようとする平井堅の姿勢が端的に現れた作品として評価したいと思う。どうしてもバラードのインパクトが強い彼だが、じつは"ポップスの新しい形"を提示し続けるオリジネイターという側面こそがアーティスト・平井堅の魅力ではないか。クセのあるメロディをなめらかにグルーヴさせていくボーカルを聴いていると、どうしてもそう思わざるをえない。2曲目には「fake star」のジャズ・アレンジ・バージョン、3曲目には「fake star」と「POP STAR」をクロスさせたマッシュ・アップを収録。(森朋之)

久しぶりにリリース日を楽しみに待った曲です。
今でこそ、平井堅=バラードのようなイメージが着いていますが、彼がブレイクするキッカケはR&B。平井堅の得意とする分野なだけあって文句無しの出来だと思います。
聴いてみる価値アリです。

CMで聴いて即好きになった曲です。
平井堅のバラードはもちろん好きですが、
あの声はこういうセクシーな曲にこそ合うと思います。

他の男性が歌ったらもうちょっと暑苦しく押し付けがましく聴こえてしまいそうな曲を
クールに、でもセクシーに歌えるのは平井堅だからこそでしょう。

カップリングのfake starをアレンジしたものもとっても聴きごたえあります。
特にpop starとのリミックスはオススメです。

CMで流れていて、耳から離れなかった。あのPOP STARのアンサーソングという事ですが、全然雰囲気が違って面白い作品になっています。一般受けは悪いかもしれませんが、皆に聞きやすい、心に響きやすい曲が”いい作品”とは言わないと思う。
すごい平井堅らしい感じなんで好きな作品です。
