ホセ・ゴンザレス スウェーデンのイェーテボリ生まれ。 2004年、デビュー・アルバム『ヴェニア』がヨーロッパ、アメリカ、オーストラリアなどで、記録的なヒットとなる。シンプルながら洗練されたサウンド、グルーブ感のある演奏、そしてその低く豊かなヴォーカルが紡ぐメロディ-に世界中が夢中になった。また、その声はZERO 7やサヴァス・アンド・サヴァラスをも魅了、それぞれのアルバムに参加を果たした。 ここ日本では2007年3月に初来日を果たし、パーカッション、バックコーラスを加えたグルービーで心地よいサウンドと、アコギの音色、そして、そのヴォーカルで素晴らしいライヴを披露。また、日本限定盤『ジャパン・ツアー・e.p.』もリリース。カイリー・ミノーグ、ジョイ・ディヴィジョンのカバー曲を含むこのe.p.もまた、高い評価を獲得した。 2007年8月にはサマーソニック07に出演、そして、9月にはセカンド・アルバム『イン・アワー・ネイチャー』がリリース。早くも前作を凌ぐ傑作との呼び声高い今作は、日本を含め世界35カ国以上でリリースされる。

スウェーデンに旅行した時にふらっと立ち寄ったＣＤ屋の店頭でこのアルバムがかかっていたのですが、その場で即購入しました。
北欧らしいはかなげでフォーキーな美しいメロディーと、繊細な歌とギターの絡みが、神秘的な空間を生み出しています。
一見淡々と歌っているようですが、おそらくすごい集中力に支えられているのでしょう・・・独特の緊張感があります。
私は現地盤を買ったのですが、国内盤には歌詞や対訳もついているようですね。おすすめです。
