単純に楽しく観られましたね・・、ソナチネ、３-４x１０月、的な要素を含んでいて、あの手の雰囲気が好きな僕としては、今作もある意味安心して最後まで観る事が出来ました。
北野監督の作品の好きな所は、現実の残酷さをこれでもかと言う位描いている所。
「嫌だなぁ・・・。」と思ってしまうシーンが結構あるんですよね、言葉使いも荒っぽいし、暴力描写も多い・・・しかし、何故か僕はそういう所に、嫌と思いつつも、惹きつけられるんです。

それは、どんな人でも味わう現実の過酷さ、それを例え娯楽であれ、ちゃんと描いてくれると僕のようなシニカルなタイプの人間には、違和感が無く写るのかもしれません。
変な奇麗事をつらつらと描く作品では無い、強烈な現実感・・・それが北野監督の僕が感じる一番の魅力ですね。

だからと言う理由で見に行った訳でもないのだが、この頃の北野作品では北野武監督・脚本・編集までしている。この作品も最初のストーリー展開も編集の技だろう。相変わらずバイオレンス性も冴えているがどの作品にも共通しているのが見ている側にも伝わってくる痛みだ。そしてリアルさ。だけど音楽は優しい。岸本佳代子がほとんどセリフのない役を好演。ラストの二言のセリフが見ている者の胸を打つ。

HANA-BIで印象に残った場面を書く。
主人公（北野武）と妻（岸本加世子）が、枯山水の庭園に誤って何かを落とす。
庭を踏まないように、おそるおそる拾おうとするが、少し届かない。
そのうちに、庭に手をついてしまう。
無理に手を伸ばしてバランスを崩したのだ。
枯山水の秩序を乱してしまった二人。
そして、二人はどっと庭に踏み込む。
私の感想・・・
枯山水は社会。そこには、法律や道徳などのルールがある。
一方で、個人の求める幸せは社会に落とされた落し物。
恐る恐る手を伸ばしていて結局手に出来ない人も多いはず。
また、バランスを崩して社会のルールに抵触してしまう人も。
映画の主人公は、病の妻の最後を一緒に過ごしたいだけ。
しかし、主人公の過去が邪魔をする。
主人公は妻と一緒に過ごすために、暴力や銀行強盗など社会のルールを破ることを選ぶ。
彼は、進んで枯山水に足を踏み込む人となった。
自分が落とした何かを拾うために。
それも、自発的にではなくちょっとバランスを崩したことがきっかけで。
誰が彼を責めることが出来る？
個人の幸せと社会のルール、望まずして社会のルールに抵触した人々の想いを代弁するかのような世界観が見事に切り取られている。
