【ストーリー】
都に届けられた四天王チミルフ戦死の報。それは新たなる戦いの幕開けに過ぎなかった…。激しい戦いの末、ダイガンザンを手に入れた大グレン団。だが得たものの代償はあまりにも大きかった。カミナという精神的支柱を失い、目標を見失いかける大グレン団の面々。そしてアニキの死を「自分のせい」と半ば自暴自棄と化すシモン。仲間たちからも孤立する中、ガンメンとの戦いの最中にラガンが暴走し、グレンと分離し飛び出してしまう。コントロールのきかないラガンはそのまま、コンテナが散乱する奇妙な谷に不時着する。谷をさまようシモンの前に、新たなコンテナが落下してくる。その扉を開けると中には一人の女の子が眠っていた…。

アニキが死んでからつまらなく感じる人も居るかもしれませんが
9,10話は新ヒロインのニア登場と、本来の主人公であるシモンが
覚醒するまでの溜めの期間です。見てる方も辛いものがありますが
溜めが在るからこそ、突き抜ける11話！！アツいですよ〜お勧めです！

アニキが死んで失意のシモン。
そのシモンの絶望の中での出会いと、彼なりの答えを見つけるまで
を描いた4巻です。
序盤のボーイミーツガールと、ラストの最愛の人の死を乗り越える
口上シーン。
収録されている3話分で一人の少年の成長が生き生きと描かれています。
もちろん、ガイナックス最高の作画クオリティは健在！！
非常に濃密な巻になっています。

第2部開始の巻です。
第2部のキーパーソンとなってくるニアとの出会い、カミナを失って沈むシモンやヨーコ
が描かれます。
第9,10話はニアや四天王紹介の回と言ってもいいでしょう。
そして11話・・・ニアの存在がシモン復活の大きな鍵になります。
ついに主人公らしく立ち上がったシモンの姿には鳥肌ものです！
