「ハレルヤ」
前作『Home』には「誰かを想う歌」が多く収録されていたように感じられる。

一方本作『TODAY』では──
「たしかに」
「愛のうた」
そして表題作でもある「TODAY」のように、「隣に誰かがいる歌」で溢れているように思えた。

それはもしかしたら彼女が結婚という扉を開き、新たな音色を手に入れたせいなのかもしれない。
アンジェラ・アキという人物はどうしようもなく「今」を歌ってしまうアーティストなのだろう。
百曲を超えるというデビュー前に書き溜めた曲を一切使用せず、
Home発売後、新たに書き下ろした曲ばかりを収録したのもその証拠のように思える。

これからも新しい「今」を歌いつづけるであろうアンジェラ・アキ。
早くも3rdアルバムが待ち遠しい。

「めざましテレビ」に使われている楽曲が、この「アンジェラ・アキ」なる人の、
『Ａｇａｉｎ』という楽曲であることぐらいの知識しかありませんでした。

昨年(’０７・０９・１４)の「Ｍステ」での『Ａｇａｉｎ』を演奏されてる
「アンジェラ・アキ」さんを、“初めて”拝見しまして…。

只ただ圧倒されましたっっ！！

「叶えたい・叶えたい・叶えたい…恋したい・恋したい・恋したい…」

この単純なフレーズは、下手するとマヌケなものになったりしますが、
“メロディー”と“歌唱力”の勝利でしょう、素晴らしい“サビ”に仕上がってますね。

演奏中に右手で、ピアノの右側から左側へと“なぞって音を出す”テクニックに、
４０歳超えたおっさんが「かっこええっっ！！」と、素で思いましたわ(笑)。

曲のエンディング近いところで、サビの歌詞が、
「叶えよう・叶えよう…」と変わりまして、
そこで一拍タメて、左手を上に上げ、人差し指をぐっ！と前に出して、
「叶えよう！！」。
ここでまた「おお！！かっこええっっ！！」となりましたわ(笑)。

あの映像はアンジェラ･アキさん、２０代最後の“テレビ出演”とのこと。
“三十路突入の心構え”っちゅーのかな？僕も悩んで大きくなりました(笑)。
