あぁ買ってしまった…「ポリリズム」が収録された『GAME』リリース後に、なぜこのシングルを買う必要があるのか？Perfumeに魅せられたリスナーの皆さんなら、もうお分かりだろう。インスト曲、そしてアルバム未収録のナンバー「SEVENTH HEAVEN」が収録されているからである！

「SEVENTH HEAVEN」は、生ピアノとアコースティックギターの演奏ではじまるという、Perfumeとしては意外なイントロだが、その実体は、Perfume＆中田ヤスタカ節全開の、切なさがリスナーの胸を直撃するダンスナンバー。ファンなら聴き逃す手はない。

Perfumeの曲の歌詞について、メンバーは「乙女の心を知り尽くしている」等といっているが、僕には少年の視点から描かれているように感じる。さらに年齢に限らず、恋をしている人の感情をすくい上げている言葉たちなのだなと思う。この「SEVENTH HEAVEN」に描かれる悦楽と切ない希望が大きな訴求力を持つ理由は、おそらくそういうことなんだろう。

そして、インストナンバー。たいていシングルにはカラオケ用に「インスト曲」つまり、歌なしバックトラックのみの曲がついてくるのだが、Perfumeの場合、インスト曲はさらに別の意味を帯びてくる。そう、Perfumeのインストナンバーは、そのまま良質のクラブ音楽になってしまうのである。
…とは言え、歌入りバージョンを先に聴いた後では、物足りない感じがするのも事実。やはり、３人のヴォーカルの存在は大きいんだな…と改めて認識させられた。

Perfumeが、それなりに濃い層以外の世間に名前を知られる様になった最初の作品。
表題曲のポリリズムは、これ以上やったらウザクなる、ギリギリまで音を詰め込んだ足し算の極みのような曲です。
（といっても、中田さんのお友達であるPSB程の情報量がある訳ではありませんが）
歌有りももちろん良いのですが、その徹底した音の重なりを味わうために、インストにも是非手を出してみてください。
さらに、既に投稿されたレビューの通り、４拍子と３拍子が同時に耳に入ってくる心地よさは異常です。
同時に鳴った訳ではありませんが、ZABADAKの「ポーランド」や遊佐未森さんの「ロカ」などの変拍子曲を思い出します。

カップリングのseventh heavenは、何故こんなに良い曲がカップリングなのか理解に苦しむほどの名曲です。
そして、歌とインストを聴いたときに受ける感じが全く違う曲でもあります。
先にインストの話をすると、まるでスタイリッシュなクラブミュージックの様です。
最初の20秒が中田さんには珍しく、電子楽器無しで再現可能な構成だったり、全く音のしない空白を曲中にはさんだりと、盛り上がる部分と聴かせる部分の抑揚を上手くつけた引き算の構成ではないかと思います。
ここにPerfumeの歌が加わると、若々しく等身大な歌唱と切ない歌詞が相まって、とんでもない胸キュン（死語）ソングになります。
インストではかっこいい「だけ」に聴こえたオケが、ただただ切なく聴こえる様になります。
三人の歌声のかわいらしさを最大限活かした、ある意味Perfumeだからこそ成り立つ曲と言えます。
ちなみに、現在どの情報を見ても4月発売予定のアルバムにseventh heavenが収録されるとは書いてありません。
Perfumeが好きになった人が、この名曲を聴かないのはもったいなさ過ぎるので、是非聴いてみてください。

私は３０代の女性なのですが、最近のお気に入りです。
Y.M.Oや電気グルーブなどで慣れ親しんだ、
テクノサウンドがとても懐かしいです。

そして今だから新しいのかもしれません。
女性アイドルと思わず、ひとつの楽曲として聴いております。
