IBM ThinkPad T42に対して、SSDに換装しました。
換装前のHDDはFUJITSU MHT2040AHでした。
評価結果を示しますのでご参考まで。

■ CrystalDiskMark 2.2での評価結果

　シーケンシャルアクセス　21.63　　　　18.93
　ランダムアクセス 512K　13.43　　　　14.51
　ランダムアクセス 　4K　0.273　　　　0.670

　シーケンシャルアクセス　75.67　　　　42.16

(注)不用なサービスやドライバは無効化しています。

■ 感想
　2009/01/31に\7,950で購入しましたが、投資しただけの
価値はあったと感じます。大型電器店に足を運んでも
SATA SSDしかディスプレイしていない昨今、Transcendの
IDE SSDは貴重な商品ではないでしょうか。私のT42は
購入から約4年間経過してますが、今回の換装作業で
性能が向上しましたので、あと2年間は現役で使えそうです。
※SATA SSDに比べて割高だと感じてますので★４つです。

■ 追伸
　SSDに換装してから約1ヵ月が経ちました。動画視聴、
オンラインバンキング、Excelを使ったデータ編集など、
様々なタイプの作業を行ってきましたが、使い込むと
やはり良い面だけでなく、悪い面も出てきました。
<良い面>
　前述のとおり、OSの起動／終了、アプリケーションの
立上げについてはHDDよりも圧倒的に高速です。また、
静音性や発熱の点も優れていると感じます。
<悪い面>
　OSのサービスパックや.NET Framework等の巨大な
ソフトウェアパッチを当てる際に失敗することが
ありました。HDDのアクセスランプが付きっぱなしで
フリーズしたような感じなります。いつまで経っても
インストーラのプログレスメータが更新されないので
電源OFF／ONで復帰させました。
　また、巨大なデータの更新（書き込み）をしていると、
別のソフトウェアのSSDアクセスが遅くなることがあります
（待ち時間が長くなります）。何というか、ソフトウェアが
マルチタスクではなく、シングルタスク的な動きをしている
ような感じです。
　全体的にこのSSD製品は更新系の動作が若干不安定であると
考えます。（巷で「プチフリーズ」と言われている現象なの
でしょうか？）

⇒ SSD（この製品）に換装すべきか否かは、個々人のパソコン
利用形態に大きく依存するものと考えます。私のように
データ更新系の作業が少なく、主としてネットの閲覧を
行っているユーザにとっては好適に作用するでしょう。

NEC VersaPro VY12F/CH-WのHDDを、本製品で換装しました。
データの移行は、Acronis Migrate Easy 7.0を使用し30分程度で終了しました。
アクセススピードが、格段に向上しました。

Transcend社の、パフォーマンス情報では次のとおりです。
Read 68〜80MB/s
Write 47MB/s
Random Read 52MB/s
Random Write 14〜18MB/s

CrystalDiskMark 2.2による、ベンチマークテスト結果は次のとおりです。
シーケンシャル転送速度
Read　16.86MB/s → 82.58MB/s　Write　17.47MB/s → 40.21MB/s
ランダム転送速度
512KB　Read　12.14MB/s → 79.28MB/s　Write　12.32MB/s → 31.00MB/s
4KB　Read　0.276MB/s → 13.13MB/s　Write　0.732MB/s → 2.056MB/s

以前は信じられないほど遅かったらしいのですが、11月に仕様変更があって改善されたらしいとのレビューを見て、メーカーサイトで仕様を確認して購入。IBM X30の20GBHDDと交換しました。ガリガリ音がなくOSの起動も速くなったと感じます。古いノートPCの機能改善には効果があると思います。メールとWebがメインの使い方なら、X30でまだまだいけそうです。
