若くして癌になり、うつ病やパニック障害を併発しながらも、
最後まで生きる望みを捨てず、笑顔でいたプロサーファーの方の話に共感し、
作られたという曲。
　私も５年前からうつ病で、今も闘病中です。でも、この病気を通じて、
生きるとはどういうことかを考える機会を与えられました。
そして今は病気に決して屈しない心を持って、
笑顔と感謝を絶やさず、きっと完治すると希望を捨てず、
命がある今日を精一杯生きています。明日命が尽きてもいいくらい悔いなく…。
たとえ命は尽きても魂は永遠でいる。そう信じて頑張っている私の背中を
温かく、いつもの優しい桑田さんの笑顔で見守ってくれている、そんな気がして
胸が熱くなります。桑田さんはどんな境遇の人の心も分かってくれている、優しい人ですね。
だからあのような人間臭い微笑みをされるんだと思います。

タイトルナンバーの「風の詩〜」は南国風のスローバラード。
カップリングの「NUMBER WONDER GIRL」は缶コーヒーのワンダのCM曲としても使われている
ノリの良いダンサンブルなナンバー。
そして「MY LITTLE TOWN」は茅ヶ崎の思い出を桑田佳祐が語る切り口のスカビートな曲。

ここではあえて、「MY LITTLE HOMETOWN」をレコメンド。特に歌詞が良い。昔の風景を良くぞ歌詞にした、そしてなかせる各段落の中の最後のフレーズ。

「明日晴れるかな」もいいシングルでしたが、こちらのほうが（カップリングを含めた）トータルでの完成度は高い感じがします。

このシングル２つに入っている6曲だけでもアルバムを作れるだけの内容になっているのはさすが。

来年はサザン30周年。おそらく満を持しての企画、曲を引っさげての登場に期待をしています。

桑田佳祐。恐ろしい人物である。前作の「明日晴れるかな」もそうだが、とても50歳を過ぎたおじさんが作った曲とは思えない。自身の曲、サザンの曲も含め、この人は一体何曲作っているのだろうか。どの曲も似ているようで似ていない。とんでもない変な曲を作ったかと思えば、恐ろしいほど美しい曲も作る。サザンや桑田の曲をギターで弾いてみると分かるが、決して難しいコードを使っているわけでもないし、複雑なコード展開をしているわけでもない。あくまでもオーソドックスである。にもかかわらず、どうしてここまで耳に残る印象的な曲になるのであろうか。本作「風の詩を聴かせて」は、まさに波間をゆったりと漂うような気持ちにさせてくれる穏やかな曲である。「白い恋人達」のメロディーラインにも相当うっとりさせられたが、本作も独特の空気感を持つ名曲である。おそらく、こういう人を天才と言うのであろう。一曲ぐらいだったら、いい曲は作れるかもしれない。でも、30年以上ヒット曲を作り続けられるアーティストは他にいないであろう。個人的には、ミスチルぐらいだと思う。残念なことに、桑田のライブのチケットは外れてしまった。絶対行きたかったのに。とりあえずは、ライブDVDの発売を心待ちにするとしよう。
