ドラムフィルから恋が始まった。

お相手はアリ・ハワード。
彼女には５人のガードマン（メンバー）がいる。
その中に、アンドリュー・レイドロウという
作詞作曲すべてを手がけるとびっきりの騎士もおりなかなか近づけない。

彼女は幼少期からマイクを持てばサンディ・ショウ、
ダスティ・スプリングフィールドなど６０年代中期
英国ポップスを歌い踊っていたという風変わりな女の子。
そんなアリがこれまた風変わりな騎士（男）
アンドリューと出会ったのだから面白い。
彼もまた懐古主義者と一蹴されてしまうような
モータウンなど６０年代黒人が歌う上品な
ノーザン・ソウルに傾倒していた。

０５年のある日、バンドの母体が整ったアンドリューは
メンバー募集の広告を出した。その内容が実にシニカル。
「Ｒ＆Ｂディーヴァはいらないよ。
アメリカのアクセントもウンザリだ。」
この偏屈なパスワードを唯一読解できた彼女は、
その自慢の金髪ボブを振り乱し、ソウル（魂）を歌い、
必然的にバンドに迎えられる。
バンドにとってアリ（だじゃれ）だったのだ。

バンド名は６０年代の黒人ポップス（ソウル）が
一番ラッキーだった時代の音楽へのリスペクトを体現し
『ラッキーソウル』と命名。
翌年、自主レーベルから“マイ・ブリトル･ハート”、
続く０７年４月に１ｓｔである
この「ザ・グレイト･アンウォンテッド」を発売。
フィル・スペクター・ミーツ･カーディガンズという
突然変異的サウンドは本国でもインディーながら
一躍注目を浴び、シングルカットされた
“ワン･キッス・ドント・メイク・ア・サマー”も
英インディチャートの１３位にランクインした。
そのキッチュな北欧ポップをベースにビューティフルサウスなど
「同郷の持つブリティッシュ特有の哀愁」
を調味料に加えできた歌こそ
『完璧なポップソング＝シンプルなもの』と定義している彼らは
現在、０９年春に２ｎｄアルバムを準備中。

もしもダイアナ・ロスが1966年にイギリスでジョージ・マーティンのプロデュースによるソロ・アルバムを制作していたらこんな感じです。

ｼﾞｬｹｯﾄとのギャップが感じられましたが、中身は最高でした。
レトロ・ポップのなかに、ロリータ要素も加わってほんとにいいバンドです。
特に４曲目のLips Are Unhappy　は超気に入りました。なんか懐かしくて、切なくて
乙女チックで素晴らしい！！
