晩年のカラヤンはデジタル音源として残すべく名演奏をグラモフォンレーベルから多くの名曲＆名演奏を残してます。
今作も繊細で鋭いカラヤンらしさに溢れた名盤です。
昔は３０００円近くしたのですが、再発売で安くなったのですね。
このジャケットもお気に入りです。
幾多の「第９」の中でもカラヤンの代表的な作品がこのプライスなら入門として最適です。
クラシックにはまったら、指揮者やフィルハーモニー毎の演奏の違い。録音日毎の違いといった深みにはまると面白いですよ。

過去、合唱団員として数多くの第９のステージにたってきました。
多くのソリストをすぐそばで聴いてきましたが、独唱者の良し悪しで第９の第４楽章は評価されると思います。バリトンのホセ・ヴァン・ダムは堂々とした歌いぶりで立派です。他のソリストのジャネット・ペリーも、アグネス・バルツァも、ヴィスコン・コウルも有名な歌手ですので聞き惚れてしまいました。これらの声楽家には、文句なく最高点を差し上げられます。実に堂々とした名歌唱なのは聴けば分かりますので。

ただ、ウイーン楽友協会合唱団がごく普通のレベルですので、合唱好きには少し物足りなかったのですが。ソリストやベルリン・フィルハーモニー管弦楽団という超一流どころと比較すると落ちますね。残念ですが。

カラヤンの晩年の演奏ですが、音楽は骨太で、非常に堂々とした演奏です。ドイツ系指揮者カラヤンの真骨頂のベートーヴェンです。安定感と卓越した美意識に裏付けられた解釈ですから全く破綻もなく立派な演奏になっています。

個人的には、フルトヴェングラーのバイロイトの演奏のようなスリリングさがほしかったですね。Allegro　assaiでは、もっとスピード感があれば、言うことナシです。
２０世紀の大指揮者の演奏ですので、当然押さえておくべきＣＤに入ります。カラヤン生誕100年にあたって再び聴きなおしましたが、その評価としては悪くはありませんので。

８０年代のカラヤンのベートーヴェンは、録音が優秀なことも相まって
「壮麗」な演奏が多いです。
私は６０年代のＬＰで全集を持っていたので、そのころの記憶と重ねると、
筋肉質にちょっとメタボ付きといった印象で、これはこれで第一級の演奏です。
合唱も独唱も私は良いと思います。
実は、仕事な関係もあり、７０年代のベートーヴェンは聴き逃しています。
ですから、あくまで６０年代との比較です。あしからず。
