いやもう、ワイアットの新しい歌が聴けるだけで星５つなんだけど、これはそんなファン以外にも楽しめる高いクオリティーの作品。
日本盤には、ちょっと面白いボーナス曲も一曲ついて、訳詞もちゃんとある。良心的な作りで、私は日本盤を選びました。ただし、ライナーのピーター・バラカンはいつものように偉そうなわりに基本データの誤りもあり、相変わらず日本人をバカにしている。こんなヤツのに仕事を与えるなよ。
タイトルからしてなんか劇仕立てかなと不安もあったが、決してそんなことはなく、音楽として楽しめる新曲集です。

Robert Wyattというミュージシャンのこれという評判を抜きにすばらしい。ジャズを聴く方はもちろんライクーダーを聴く方もいろいろな要素をもっているのでokです。

RWの声に張りがある。曲調は最近の作品の延長線上から抜け出てはいないが、明るいVOCALが聴ける。世界一悲しい歌声は返上か？ENOやフィルマンの協力のもと、工夫を凝らしたサウンドと美しいメロディー、そしてちょっぴり楽しい楽曲がたっぷり聴ける。一時期の暗くも美しいサウンドは影を潜め、脳天気とまでは行かないが、RW流のやや屈折したラテン系サウンドである。最近の作品との変化はヴォーカルパートが非常に凝っている点である。コーラスが美しく複雑だったりする。イーノトロンという怪しい(?)楽器をフュチャーした「OutOfTheBlue」などはかなりユニークである。正直、年老いた声しか聴かれないと思っていたが、予想外のユニークで元気な作品に星４つ。個人的には渋くじっくり歌いこむ路線をもっと聴きたかった。
