ボニーピンクの魅力のひとつを、この最新作を聞いて思い出した。

幸福なのに、どこか漠然とした不安がつきまとう
陰があって鬱なのに、現実を受け止めて明日を肯定する
そんなイメージを、詞だけでなく曲や、また歌い方から表現すること。
　
　時にそんな楽曲は、地味だったり、分かりにくかったりする。
だけど何回も聴いて味が出てくるような曲が多かったからこそ、長く好きでいられたし、ずっと支持されている理由なのかもしれない。
　ここ何作かのシングル曲は、吹っ切れたかのようなアッパーな曲が続き、世に出る機会も増えた。メロディやアレンジも含めて、一度聴いただけでわかる完成度の非常に高い楽曲もそれはそれで楽しいのだけど、なんとなくステージが別の方向に上がっていってしまったと感じていたのは、単純に売れたから、という理由だけではない。わかりやすさを追求したが故に感じられなくなった部分があるのは当然のことではあるが。

　本作では陰のあるボニーが戻ってきた。どの曲にも、簡単にはわからせてくれないような深みや心地よい違和感を感じる。収録されているシングル曲「A Perfect Sky 」「Anything For you」「Water Me」は明らかに他の曲とは雰囲気が違う（それは決して悪いことではないが）。悲しいテーマであるはずの「Water Me」でさえも、わかりやすさ故に他の曲が持つ深みはないように感じる。
　シングルのヒットがあって、その後の初のオリジナルアルバムとしては、“シングル曲以外は地味”という感想も妥当なところだと思う。だけど昔からのファンにとっては十分に満足いく作品になっているはずだ。
　
　昔は、製作時の精神状態がそのまま楽曲に反映されている、という内容のインタビューを読んだことがあるのだが、今はどうなのだろう。さすがにもう、計算でやってるのかもしれない。このままいってください。

僕はジャンルにもこだわらず、たくさんの音楽を聴くのですが、このCDには、いまいち好きじゃないなあと感じる’曲がありません。へんなほめ方ですね。全部好きです。自然体で前向きな姿勢で....いい曲を作り続けてほしいと思います。

一般受けを狙った曲とか、CMソングとか、やたら嫌う人いるけど、悪いことじゃないと思う。
いつから音楽ってそんな敷居の高いものになったんだろうね。
俺は親しみやすくて、多くの人に好かれるような歌が作れる人のほうが尊敬するけどなぁ
