米倉涼子が主演するドラマ「肩ごしの恋人」は、作家・唯川恵の直木賞受賞作が原作。原作のテーマと同じく二人の女性の絆を投影した詞の世界観。それを歌の世界でさらに表現するためにゲストボーカルにサザンオールスターズのキーボーディストであり、また、ソロとしても作品をリリースしている原由子さんが参加しています。

両A面扱いとなるカップリングにはアルバム『Denim』から、世代を超えて支持を受け、シングルカットの要望が高い『人生の扉』を収録。今回はさらに、待望のオリジナル・カラオケが収録されています。

5.0 out of 5 stars Single of the Year さあどちらの曲が優位？, 2007/8/14
「人生の扉」はアルバムDenimに納められていました。詞ばかりに気を取られていましたが、この作品は演奏も素晴らしい。ピアノ中心の静かな出だしだけれど、控えめなベースとドラムスがところどころで小気味良い音をかき鳴らしてくれています。中盤からのスチールギターとリードギターの音色とプレイがたまりませんね。そしてフラットマンドリンの出番。このフラットマンドリンの音は今まで生きてきた人生の出来事を思い起こさせてくれ、これからどう生きていくべきかを考えさせてくれました。本当に身が引き締まるような感じで聴くことができました。終盤の Denim のメッセージが聞こえてきたとき、そうかそういうことだったのかと納得、まりやさんの歌唱も曲と見事にマッチしています。詞良し、歌良し、曲良し、アレンジ良し、演奏良し、世界中のたくさんの人に聞いて貰いたい作品です。
一方、「チャンスの前髪」の方はサザンのハラ坊こと原由子さんがゲスト・ヴォーカルとして参加しており、なかなかいい味を出しています。まりやさんがどちらかと言うと、活発で歌い放つのに対し、優しく包み込むような歌い方、終盤どこから声を出してるんだーと言いたくなるのは私だけかな？こちらも素晴らしいアレンジ・演奏になっています。TVドラマの効果もあり、いい勝負になりそうですね。

年々竹内まりやは歌に磨きがかかりソングライティングも目を見張るものがあります。『チャンスの前髪』はまりやの王道ポップス『人生の扉』はまりやの最高傑作だと思います。歌詞ではないですが50代だなんて信じられないし、どう見ても30代前半にしか見えないくらいきれいです。竹内まりやとユーミンはまさにスターです

ここ数作大人しめの雰囲気の曲が多かったけれど
この曲は
明るくポップな曲調で
聴いていて、本当になんかワクワクしてきます。
何よりも５０を超えて
この詩、この曲、この声、素晴らしいです。

原由子も参加してます。
この二人の掛け合いがまた素晴らしいのです。

カップリングの『人生の扉』
名曲ですね〜。
