U2よりはポップな感じですけど、似てます。

売れてなかったら毛嫌いする人も少ないんでしょうね。
世の中、メジャー嫌いという人も結構いますから。
ただ、「そんな大げさなぁ」という感じに賛美しているレビューもちょっと引きますが。

コールドプレイを売れているから、という理由だけで毛嫌いする人がいるが、
音楽を純粋に好きな人でこのアルバムを嫌いな人なんているのだろうか。
それだけの圧倒的なクオリティーとロマンが詰め込まれたアルバムだと思う。

前作は決して駄作ではないが、正直アルバムとして散漫な印象があり消化不良な感は否めなかった。
今作も曲ごとに様々なアプローチはしているのだが、前作と違い
音の細部まで消化されている印象をうけた。

前作と今作を経てコールドプレイというジャンルの音楽を確立したように思う。
これは本当に凄いことだ。
今回表現に取り入れていた中近東あたりの音楽との相性も非常に良く、
更なるステップアップを期待してしまう。

今年も様々な音楽を聴いてきたが、メジャーバンドとしての圧倒的な実力を
見せつけられた１枚だった。
反グローバリズムの流れを受けてか、最近は音楽でもインディー的”外し”のニュアンスとセンスをもったバンドが注目されているが、このように真っ正面からメジャーであることと勝負しているコールドプレイの音楽はなんて力強く、潔く、心に響いてくるのかと感心させられた。これからますます貴重な存在になっていくのではないかと思う。

特定のジャンルやスタイルではなく、”音楽が好き”という人は聴いて損しないアルバムだと思います。

大学生の娘から聞くまでは、バンド名位しかCOLDPLAYに関しては知らなかった。RADIOHEAD、THE STROKE WHITE&STRIPES等魅力的なバンドも出てきて、音楽シーンもまた活況を呈してきたようで、中年ロックファンとしては嬉しい限りの昨今である。さて、そのCOLDPLAYだが、たまたま出張先のドラッグストアで置かれていたのを入手したのが出会いである。ホテルに帰り、早速聞いてみると「これが切なくもあり、優しくもあるメロディ」で瞬く間に虜になってしまった。近頃はどうもヒップホップ音楽が全盛で、何か単調な音楽ばかりが世の流行かと勝手に勘違いしていた己が情けなかった。これ程の素晴らしいメロディラインを奏でる若き物たちのバンドがいて、それを支持する若者がこれ程にも多かったことに、勝手に「ロックは死なず」などとほくそ笑むのであった。
