Album Description

Toto were formed in LA in the late 70's by a group of friends who were all much in demand session musicians. They went on to epitomize the classic American pop/rock sound of the 80's and 90's with hit albums and singles including Hold The Line, Africa, I Won't Hold You Back and the multi-Grammy winning Rosanna. This concert was recorded at Le Zenith in Paris in March 2007 in front of a wildly enthusiastic sell-out crowd. It captures the band rocking at their hardest and most powerful and giving a new life to all their best-loved tracks.

U.S.盤の紹介ではGreg、Luke、Simonのソロが無くDisc.1の11曲目に
「I Will Remember」となっていますが、あえてU.S.盤を購入してみると
実際は日本盤、UK盤と同じ内容でした。

今回、リーダー（デビッド・ペイチ）と最後のポーカロ兄弟（マイク）までが不参加
なのには少々落胆したが代わりの“歴戦の勇士“Greg PhillinganesとLeland Sklar
は見事なプレイを聴かせてくれており、さすがに場数踏んでいるだけあるなと感じさせ
られる。ただ、「TOTO」と言うバンドを見直す意味では「・・・」と思ってしまいますが。

しかし、本作中では“耳にタコ”な程聴いて来た「Rosanna」をフュージョンチックな
アレンジで、間奏では「Birdland」で味付けまでしちゃっているのが新鮮かつカッコ
いい。

そして、気になったのがボビーの声がかなり潰れているようで別人かと思うくらいに
なっていたのが心配である。
TOTOに復帰して10年近く、精力的に活動してきたので“バンド活動無期限休止”
の間にしっかりと喉を治して下さいませ。

日本公演もあったfalling betweenツアーのパリ公演版。内容は、日本公演の時とほぼ同じだが、日本でやった「home of the brave」はなし。
　前回の２５ｔｈ記念ライブ版とは違い、ＴＯＴＯのアルバムからまんべんなくセットリストが組まれている。なつかしい「isolation」や「stop loving you（サポートギターのトニー・スピナーがボーカル）」、「kingdom of desire」から、「kingdom of desire」「gypsy train」「don't chain my heart」、「tambu」から「gift of faith」「drag him to the roof」、「mindfields」から「caught in the balance」「cruel」など、本当にまんべんなくやっている。ＴＯＴＯ歴の長いファンにとってうれしいのは、ＴＯＴＯがどん底の時（個人的な感想で、つらかったであろう時期）ともいっていい８・９枚目の曲をやってくれているのがいい。ずっと聞いてきたファンにとっては、うれしい楽曲です。もちろん「rosanna」「africa」は、はずすことなくやっています。

　確かに、ベストメンバーではない(デビット・ペイチ、マイク・ポーカロがいない）し、ボビーの声はつらそうだけど（６０歳のボーカルとしては合格でしょう）、これは、どう聞いてもまちがいなくＴＯＴＯのＬＩＶＥ版です。「absolutely live」のテンションに近い感じがします。彼らは、演奏に関してはぬかりがないですから、買って損はしないでしょう。

PaichもMikeもいないのにLIVE盤出すとは・・・
しかもBobbyの声が限界です。
商業的理由だけのリリースなのかなあ
もちろん演奏はパーフェクトですが・・・。
