This record starts with "Don't Make Me A Target", a song that builds on Spoon's familiar minimal rhythmic piano/guitar vamp popularized on earlier hits like "Small Stakes" or "The Way We Get By". The album quickly moves into uncharted territory with the atmospheric "The Ghost Of You Lingers" and moves through several different stylistic changes from the explosive "You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb" to the wall-of-sound horns of radio single "The Underdog". Their most heartfelt batch of songs since 2001's "Girls Can Tell".

あいかわらず渋いですが、ポップです。そしてさらに今回はジャケがかっこいい。
前作の「Gimme Fiction」があまりに良かったので、正直、今作はどうなるんだろうか、と不安に思っていました。
聴いてみると、これまた良い。不安ふっとびました。
シンプルでいながら、かなりアレンジに凝ってます。
あまりにクールなのでファンクとかジャズな雰囲気すら感じてしまう。
基本的には、前作や「Kill The Moonlight(名作!!)」と方向性は変わらないのですが、「Don't You Evah」のリズム感なんかには少し今までの彼らに無かったものを感じます。
ただこれまでの方向性(Girls Can Tellあたりからの)の一つの到達点であるように思えます。
これからの方向性がかなり気になってしまう。

アルバム全体としてまとまりが良くて、彼らの良いところがまんべんなく表れているので、初めてSpoonを聴く人にもおすすめです。

個人的には、2007年に最も聴いたアルバムの一つで、多くの業界紙から高い評価を得たアルバムだ。

シンプルに構成されているためか、メロディーが今まで以上に際立っている。
ただ、そのシンプルさの裏では、随所に凝ったアレンジが散りばめられており、
今までの集大成的なサウンドに仕上がっている。

1曲目"Don't Make Me A Target"の入りからして、前作よりも大きく前進した事を確信する。
2曲目"The Ghost Of You Lingers"のミニマルなアレンジも今までにはなかった展開だ。
その後、シングルカットされた"You Got Yr. Cherry Bomb"、"Don't You Evah"と続く。

前半は、メロディー、スピードともに、比較的派手な曲が並ぶが、中盤は若干トーンダウンして、Spoon的に新しい試みがなされている曲が続く。
もちろん、クオリティに問題はない。一転して、7曲目の"The Underdog"から最後にかけては圧巻だ。

このアルバムは、今最も勢いに乗っているであろうMergeと、そのレーベルが
新たに切り開いたAmerican Indieの代名詞的な側面を持っている。
07年は、本当にAmerican Indieに良作が目立った年だったが、中でもこの『Ga Ga Ga Ga Ga』は群を抜いて素晴らしい出来だった。

タイトルそのままをイメージさせるようなガッツリとした、かつまとまったサウンドの音楽です。
歌のポップ加減にも惹かれます。

しゃがれ声と歪みあるサウンドは、うるさいんじゃなくちゃんと聴ける旨味のあるシンプルな仕上がり、その荒々しさはむしろ何か訴えかけるようなパワーを生んでいます。
一味違う、クールに届いてくるロック感がいいですね。

かなり気に入ってます。
