「天然コケッコー」の主題歌で｢ワルツを踊れ｣からのシングルカットの表題曲。
アルバムとver.が違い、ストリングスがちょっとしつこい感が有る気がします。
アルバムを聴きすぎて、そっちに慣れちゃったからかもしれませんが。。。
くるりは淡々と流れる名曲が多い気がしているのですが、これもその類の曲です。
映画との相性もばっちりだと思います。

2曲目のSalyuとのデュエット曲、「ウィーン5」もなかなか癖のある曲。
湿り気のある、｢言葉はさんかく こころは四角｣とは異なる切なさを持った曲。
Salyuとのデュエットは想像がつかなかったけど、思った以上に合ってましたね。
名曲です。

そして3曲目、｢ブルー・ネイキッド・ブルー｣。
タイトルからしてまた切なめの曲かと勝手に想像してましたが、
完全に期待を裏切ってくれました。
「ウィーン5」とは違った湿度の高い音像で、ボーカルも何人かの声が重なっていて。
しまいには｢サンオイル塗ったくったらいい!｣とか語りだす始末。
聴きようによってはほんとアニソンみたいです(笑)
でも曲自体はかっこいいし、なかなかいい感じ。
初期の頃のくるりだったらまだしも、
｢アンテナ｣とか｢THE WORLD IS MINE｣の頃のくるりだったら絶対書かなかった曲だと思います。
こういう曲がもっと増えても面白いんじゃないかなーなんて思いました。

3曲のシングルですが、非常に振れ幅が大きいです。
そしてそんな振れ幅の中にもくるりらしさが際立ってます。
ジャケはあっさりしていますが、なかなか濃ゆい一枚。

映画の主題歌って聞くと、だいたいその映画のセリフや映画に関係のある言葉が使われたりするけど、くるりが担当する主題歌はそういうものがない。 僕がくるりを知った「ハイウェイ」という曲も、「家出娘」も そしてこの「言葉はさんかく こころは四角」も、少しの言葉から 優しい気持ちだったり すこしなさけない気持ちだったり お別れの悲しさだったりが伝わってくる。 長々とした詞を書かなくても伝わる感情 風景。くるりの音楽はたぶん聞く人によって伝わるものが違うんだと思う。その人の思い出や 好きな人や 過ごした街の出来事とかそういうものが曲を聞いて引き出されるんだと思う。曲の主役はいつも聞いている僕らで いろんな感情を思い出すことが出来る。 そんなくるりの音楽が僕は大好きだ。
