物語音楽の開拓者、幻想楽団Sound Horizonの新たなる挑戦―それは“Story Maxi”という表現形態。
従来のアルバムを長篇、各楽曲を短篇にたとえるならば、これは中篇小説に属する物語の表現形態である。

幻想楽団の主宰者にてし、現代の吟遊詩人と評される音楽家Revo。
彼が選んだ舞台は中世スペイン。
レコンキスタの鐘が鳴り響く戦乱のイベリア半島。
人は何故、憎しみと争いの歴史を繰り返すのだろうか?

君ニ今、敢エテ問オウ・・・・・・


【解説】
幻想楽団Sound Horizonが贈る幻想物語は、中世スペイン。繰り返される憎しみと争いの歴史をテーマに物語りを制作。7人の登場人物を中心に物語が進行し、大きく3つの場面が存在する。
1つは“石畳の緋き悪魔”と“美しき夜の娘”がつくる物語。1つは“離散の老預言者”と“流浪の三姉妹”との物語。そして戦乱の世界。

ファンタジックな世界でありながら、メッセージ性を含んだ今作を通じで、主宰者Revoは「人は何故、憎しみと争いの歴史を繰り返すのだろうか?”と問いかけている。

5.0 out of 5 stars 「聖戦」を「争い」と読ませる世界, 2007/12/12
「聖戦」と聞くと、宗教的なイメージが強く神のために戦う敬虔な信徒の「聖なる」戦争を思い浮かべるかもしれない。
しかしこのＣＤではタイトルから連想する立場とは全く逆だ。
確かに信徒にとっては「聖戦」かもしれない。
しかしそれに巻き込まれた者たちにとっては・・・その「聖戦」は地獄でしかない。愚かな争いでしかない。

Sound Horizonらしい「語り」を交えながら、まるで戦争の悲劇を描いた一つの映画を作り上げているような音楽だ。
ファンタジックでありながらどこかリアルなその世界は、聞くものを引き込んで離さない。
特に、女性陣の澄み渡る高音が、悲劇を嘆くようでもあり、天の上から傍観するようでもあり、また争いに対する憤りを表しているようでもある。
歌詞もダークな面を描いたところもあるが、どことなく物語りチックでそれほど抵抗を感じないのではないだろうか。

３曲に繰り返し出現する旋律は聞いた後も耳を離れずに私を魅了してやまない。
私は戦争の悲惨さを知らずに育った世代だが、此の曲を聴くたびに、戦争をやめられない人間の愚かさと幼さを実感する。
戦争がテーマなため嫌う方もいるかも知れない。
だが、私は自信を持ってお勧めできる。
美しい音楽と響き渡る歌声、逞しい馬の嘶き、激しくぶつかる剣の金属音・・・それらSound Horizonが作り出す世界に酔いしれながら、目の前に現れるレコンキスタに翻弄された人々と一時の会話を交わしてはいかがだろうか。

Sound Horizonの本領発揮とも言うべき沢山のキャスト、歌い手、コーラス。
詩のひとつひとつに込められた「聖戦」のメッセージ。
アルバムを除き二枚目のシングルとなりますが、今回はシングル初続き物ということになります。

アルバムのような壮大感が、一枚のシングルでも表現できる。
個性的で魅了される詩とワールドミュージック。
台詞の数々やキャラの個性、伝えたかったもの…
Sound Horizonという楽団にしかできない音楽かもしれません。

ただ、一期のような童話風ファンタジーが好きな方にはやっぱり受け入れられ辛いかも。

あらまりさん脱退後の「Roman」はまだ「未完成」の印象だったが、素直に１期を超えたと思えるクオリティになった。
前作ではRevoボーカルに対して賛否両論だったが、今回はさほど違和感なく聴けた。
（ある意味適度な短さゆえにそう感じるのかもしれないが）


「Story Maxi」ということもあり、短い時間の中にサンホラ世界を凝縮しているところに若干物足りなさは感じるが、歌詞の各所にそれまでのサンホラを踏襲する言い回しが含まれていて、１期からのファンでも楽しめる。


ただ、個人的に重度のじまんぐ中毒の自分にとっては、今回はやや「じまんぐ分」が足りないかも……。
