アーティストについて

’70年、アメリカはフィラデルフィアの生まれ。’89年にアルバム『Richie Kotzen』でデビュー。
19歳にして若手屈指のテクニカル派ギタリストとして注目を集める。さらに二枚のソロ作をリリースした後
’92年にポイズンに加入、それまではパーティー・バンドの趣の強かったバンドの音楽的成熟に大きく貢献する。
’93年の『Native Tongue』リリース後に脱退、再び精力的なソロ活動を展開しギタリストとしてのみならず素晴らしいヴォーカリストとしての魅力もアピールする。
’99年にはフュージョン界の凄腕ベーシスト スタンリー・クラークの誘いによりスタンリーとレニー・ホワイトが結成したハード・フュージョン・ユニットVertuに参加、
さらに同年ポール・ギルバート脱退を受けてMr. BIGに加入し’02年のバンド解散までギタリスト/ソングライターとして活躍する。
’06年3月には「機動戦士ガンダム」シリーズのカヴァー集『哀 戦士・Z×R』をリリース、さらにビリー・シーンらを擁したリッチー・コッツェン・バンドとして
ローリング・ストーンズの来日公演のオープニング・アクトを務めて大きな話題となる。幅広い音楽的バックグラウンドと確かなテクニック、さらに甘いルックスと

このアルバムは凄い!!
リッチー コッツェンという天才が本領発揮した作品である。エモーショナルなVoと一聴してカレと分かる個性的かつテクニカルなGがアルバム全編を通して堪能できる。
なかなか大人が聴くに堪える音楽がないと嘆くアナタには是非聴いて欲しいです。カッコイイROCKが聴けますよ。
中でもグルーウ゛感溢れるトラック-1・2、コッツェン流「Colorado-bulldog」とも言うべきT-4、心揺さぶるバラードT-6、ポップロック的なT-8などかオススメです! 本作でリッチーのロックに初めて触れた方、ライヴに足を運んで下さいね!
ホンモノのROCKが見れますよ!!!

但し私みたいにリッチー以外の音楽では満足できなくなっても責任は負いません。悪しからず(笑)

ここ数作、ひとりでアルバムをつくっていたが、バンド形式となって楽曲の幅も広がった。
散漫であるという意味ではない。
ファンクやR&B、フュージョンなどの己のルーツをしっかり見据えているので、一本筋が通っている。
豊かな音楽性ということになろう。

ギタープレイやヴォーカルがすばらしいのはすでに証明済み。
となると、あとはいかに魅力的な楽曲を提示するかがポイントである。
しかしこのポイントはいともかんたんにクリアされた。

とにかくカッコいい。久しぶりにギターも奔放に弾きまくっている。
さらに今作はオルガンの使い方が絶妙である。それにメロトロンの入り方ときたら！
どの曲も捨てがたいが、とくに3曲目、5曲目が気に入った。
ツボをクイクイと押しまくられ、アルバム一枚聴き終える頃には、爽快な気分になっていたしだい。

今度またグレン・ヒューズとコラボレーションしてくれないかしら。
1曲だけではなくて、アルバムすべてを。
となると、バンドは、グレン・ヒューズ（Vo、B）、リッチー・コッツェン（G、Vo）、チャド・スミス（Ds）。
こりゃすごいことになるな。

今回のアルバム、聴く人の好みにもよりますが私の個人的な感想としまして、高域の周波数帯がきついです。高域がブーストされているというよりも、低域が少なすぎるといった方が正解かもしれません。楽曲が素晴らしいだけに非常にもったいない気がします。
