主人公は次期市長を狙う敏腕検事のレイ・リオッタ。
（レイ・リオッタ･･･未だにハンニバルの脳味噌喰われるシーンが頭にこびりついています。）
とある殺人事件で、加害者であり恋人（ジョリーン・ブレイロック）の証言と、被害者の友人（LLクールJ）の証言が大きく食い違う。
恋人をかばいながら事件を追っていくと、そこには巨大な犯罪組織のドンが浮かび上がってくる・・・　
舞台が取り調べ室が中心なので、サスペンスに不可欠なヤル・ヤラレルの緊張感がなく退屈で眠たい。
ジョリーン・ブレイロックを無駄に掘り下げてるのは？　もしかして、脱がせる為に掘り下げた？（笑）
その時間を犯罪組織のドンに回せば、もっと刺激的な作品になったのに。
本は素晴らしいが、勿体ない作品になっちゃった。

他のレビューにもあるとおり、登場人物の外観が似ていることや、名前がすぐ頭に入りにくいこともあり、色々な意味で混乱しやすい。
最終的には、ダニーは誰なのかという点に集約していくが、結論はまた別のところにある。
最低２回は観ないと十分な理解はできないと思う。
その点、映画館で観た人たちはフラストレーションが溜まったのでは・・・たぶんＤＶＤで見直すことになるので、これも戦略かも!?
１時間３０分に、ぎっしりと内容が詰まったサスペンス。じっくり観たい人にはオススメです。

主人公は地方検事で次期市長を狙っているフォード・コール（レイ･リオッタ）。彼の目を通して話は進む。

ノラは有能な部下であり恋人。フォードは、伝えられる情報が余りにもノラの証言と異なっていて、焦燥感を募らせていく。観る者はフォードと共に右往左往させられる。
謎解きに重要な存在の４人の黒人俳優のうち、キーマンとなるトリッピンははっきり判るヒゲを蓄えていてくれて助かったが、共にスキンヘッドの３人は、場面が変わる度に混乱してしまうほど区別が難しかった。
ワンシーンの別バージョンをいくつも見せられたり、張り巡らされた伏線もたっぷり。サービス万点だった一方で、一度観ただけでは頭の整理がつかなかったのが残念。

従って、最後のオチも、すぐには拍手喝采と言うわけに行かず、２度目の鑑賞後、ウ〜ンと唸りながらやっと理解した。もう少しシンプルでも良かった。

「カイザー・ソゼ」に対応する「ダニー・ルーデン」、「キント」に相当する「ノラ」がいたりして、その構成は、確かにかの有名な「ユージュアルサスペクツ」に酷似していた。その意味では、もっと面白い作品に仕上がってよいはずの推理ドラマだった。

とにかく、面白くないです。
ストーリーも登場人物も何か、よく分かりづらい。
