一先ず対仏戦に取り掛かるところまで遊んでみて感じるに、基本的には従来通りのシステム。大幅に変更と言うよりも、細部を改修し、DOSからWindows化、ユーザーインターフェイスの改良の面が大きいのでしょう。(GPPRO.INIを書き換えることにより窓の最大化は可能なので、マップ画面においてSXGA以上の解像度メリットは得られます。なお、思考ルーチン改善については現時点では不明。)

ただ、軍団単位とは言え、一拠点への多方面からの同時攻撃(侵攻)を受け付けない、包囲、支援効果などが皆無なのは相変わらずなのは不満。また、良くも悪くも(ジェネラルサポートのこだわりはこういった部分にあるようですが)数値を直接指定して配備、補充などを頻繁に自ら行う必要がある為、久々に同社製を遊んでみた者としてはどうも数値と格闘している気分が拭い去れない。

同社作品群はボードゲームからのシミュレーションゲームとしてはリサーチ、デザインが優れているものの、半面、手作業では扱い切れなかったデータ、数値を膨大化させているに過ぎないように感じる。厳しく言えばソフトウェア開発力が今尚かなり低いといわざるをえず、(ターン、リアルタイム制がどうかなのではなく)PCゲームに即したものとは言い難い。近年、海外はマウス捌きだけのRTSが目立ってはいるものの、その一方でHearts of Iron、Combat Missionsなどシミュレーションゲームの本質を上手く捉えつつPC上にシステムを適応させているだけに、アプローチが異なるとは言え、それらと比較するのは正直苦しい。

しかし、日本国内といえばキャラクター、ユニット寵愛型ゲームばかりがシミュレーションゲームとして蔓延っているだけに、同社は非常に貴重な存在。今後も末永く我が道を歩んで欲しい。甘く甘く星五つ。

GD初めてプレーしました。戦略シミュレーションは戦争経済と戦術のシミュレーションの組み合わせだと思っていますが、このゲームは前者は他にみられないほどですが後者は貧弱です。第二次大戦ドイツものの他ゲームでは資源や供給に苦しむことはあまりなく、この点がリアルでなく物足りなかったのですが、GD2は慢性的な資源不足、物資と兵器の供給不足、製造に何ヶ月もかかる量を一回の戦闘であっけなく喪失、爆撃で製造力が大きく減退などリアルに苦しいです。一方で、戦術は不自然な設定の中で火力と耐力だけで決まるので、局所的な戦力集中、機動力を活かす、空軍との共同、戦場や攻撃ルートの選択、攻守の切り替え、部隊の練度などのうまく戦う要素がほとんどありません。攻守が固定された３部隊同士のガチンコ勝負のくりかえしなので結局消耗戦です（これらも経済面ではリアル？）。戦う度に戦力が衰退するのでやりくりに苦労します。という訳でバランスはHearts of Ironには劣りますが、参謀の楽しみはともかく軍需相の楽しみは最高に満喫できます。

未だにこのような作品を作るところがあることに感心した。
今やこういうものを作るにはちょっとしたエッセンスが必要なようで、ハーツオブアイアンでは、忙しなくなると言うのに、リアルタイムの要素がある。
やはりこういう作品はゆっくりと大局を見据えつつ、さっさと終わらせてしまうのではなく、歴史の書を紐解いてみたりしながら、たっぷり時間をかけて楽しみたいものです。

ゲームとしてみれば拙いところもあるが、古き良き時代を感じさせる良作であると感じました。
