小型のフォトプリンタに全てを求めようとする人は店頭でもよく見かけますが、そりゃ無茶な相談です。
あくまでも特定用途の割り切りが必要ですが、そこにピタリと当てはまる人にとっては、最近、価格的にもこなれ魅力的です。

発色はとてもよいと思います。というか、たかだか１万円の昇華式プリンタとしては非常に完成度の高い発色と実感できます。
昇華式の欠点として黒のしまりにいまいち感がありますが、とてもよく頑張っていると思います。外出時のテストプリントやプレゼント用に最適です。上級機種に決して引けを取りません。

LCD画面は必要最小限度の解像度しかありません。何が写っているかの大枠の確認程度です。デジカメのLCDが著しく発達している今、これは結構落胆する人が多いんじゃないかと懸念されます。箱にもLCD画面が映っていますが、はめ込み印刷で製品の現況を伝えていません。

Pict Bridge接続で使用するケーブルは本体からコードリールで伸び、使い勝手は秀逸です。

総じて、価格的と内容のバランスが良く、とてもお買い得だと思います。

740の前身である720を使っているので比較して書きます。
画質には差を感じません。印刷の速さは気持ち速くなっています。
一番違いを感じるのが、液晶画面が見やすく大きくなった事でしょうか。
そうはいっても最近の携帯電話の液晶よりは見劣りします。人間贅沢になった物です。
あと、ボタン類の表示が日本語になっています。
これはお年寄りにも使ってもらう時の大きなポイントです。
720は英語表示でした。
キヤノンというメーカーが日本のメーカーでありながら
外国資本におさえられている事の証左だな、と少し寂しい思いをした物ですが
740は日本人にも使いやすいパッケージングがなされています。
ただ、あいかわらずポストカードの給紙トレーが同梱されていないのは
改善してほしいところです。

まず、9000円以下の価格が二重丸！
赤外線受信や、バッテリーパックのオプションは不要なので、無くてもOK。
液晶画面も、印刷前にデジカメでチェック済なので、小さくても問題なし。
「カラーインク／ペーパーセット」も、３PACK（108枚）セットを買えば、1枚当り約２０円。
本体に比べると、ACアダプタが大きく感じますが、
使わない時は本体の上にペーパーカセットを乗せ、その上にACアダプタと、三段重ねで
仕舞っています。
