プレートには、縮尺に応じた目盛りが刻まれていて、地形図に合わせるだけで、距離が計測できるなどプレート付きのコンパスの標準的仕様で誰でも扱いやすいタイプです。

現在位置を正確に確認する為には、やはりプレート付き、そしてリングが回せるコンパスでないと使い勝手が悪い。というより、正確に計測できない。

コンパス入門者には、まず、この大きさの、このタイプでしょう。
コンパスに金属物を近付けると、正確に計測できませんよ。デジカメなどを一緒に持って使用することなどは止めましょう。
