“ディーパーズは初期”という声をよく耳にする。

表面上は確かに初期の音からはかけ離れてきているように思える。

ナパームデスやドリームシアター、フランク・ザッパ、スワーヴドライバー、、、。
ナラサキの作業は、膨大な自身のルーツを紡いでゆくことに他ならない。
その証拠にアルバムが出るたびに、懐の広さというものを認識させられる。

究極のポップ・メロディによって紡がれていく様々な音楽。

実はそのスタンスは初期から全く変わっていないと思うのだが。

SUBMERGE以来の傑作だと思います。ただ方向性がSUBMERGEとは違う方向に向かっていて同じ次元で評価できるものではないと思います。
初期から聴いているファンには納得できないものがあるかもしれませんが、少なくとも確実に進化していると思います。
内容はといえば相変わらずメタルやエレクトロニカ、ラテンなどさまざまなジャンルが入り混じってますが、Wipeoutの三味線や、Water birdの轟音ギターからサビでいきなり電子音になるなどのオリジナリティもすばらしいです。

前作から5年ぶりのディーパーズのアルバム。
5年も経つと大体音の感じも変わってるのだがディーパーズも例外ではない。

で、それが嫌と言うとそうでもなく割りとすんなりと聴ける。
全体的に抑え目で静かな曲が多いのだがいきなり轟音になったりするので侮れない。
また、メロディも磨きがかかっていて全体的に神秘的なイメージを漂よわせている。
特に「zoei」「Hedorian Forever」あたりは美しさも感じる程。

後かなり効果的だと思うのが歌詞カードについてる挿絵、というかイメージイラスト？
これが曲のイメージを膨らませてくれていて色々と想像が出来る。
全体的に深海、あるいは退廃的な未来を髣髴とさせた。
アルバムのイメージカラーはやはり「蒼」だろう。
色々と感じは変わっていたが私は充分楽しめた。
NARASAKIの声は相変わらず良いな〜。
