新世代のメタルヒーローと言えば、BULLET FOR MY VALENTINEやAVENGED SEVENFOLDなどが世界的な成功で躍進しているが、
このバンド、ANTERIORもそんな彼らに匹敵する攻撃性とドラマ性を持ち合わせている。

アルバムの最初から最後まで轟音を上げて疾走し続ける。
だが、ただ単に疾走するわけではない。
北欧Melodic Death Metalを彷彿させるメロディアスなツインリードギターが特徴的で、ボーカルのディストーションボイスも北欧Melo-Deathらしいもの。

若いバンドにありがちな万人受けするメロディックなサウンドスタイルではなく、風格さえ漂わせるサウンドスタイルに圧巻。
若くしてこのソングライティングセンスは天才と呼んでも過言ではなく、技術においても高いレベルを誇っている。

日本における知名度はまだまだだが、日本人受けするメロディアスな楽曲陣はまさに秀逸。 メインストリームにのし上がり、暴れ回るのも時間の問題だろう。

イギリスの新世代メタルバンド、アンテリアのアルバム。2007作
古き良きメタルサウンドを若き感性で蘇らせることによって、これまでにもシーンは幾度も活性化されてきた。
CHILDREN OF BODOMやSOILWORKなどが世界的に台頭すると、アメリカではTRIVIUM、AVENGED SEVENFOLDが
イギリスではBULLET FOR MY VALENTINE、DRAGONFORCEといった、勢いのある若手が現れて人気を集め、
メタルというジャンルを多様化させるともに、アンダーグラウンドから引き上げることに成功しつつある。
そしてこのバンドもまた、往年のメタルの質感を、メロデス、メタルコアなどの要素とともに再構築している。
一聴すると、そのサウンドはいわゆるニュースクール系の感触なのだが、流麗なツインギターの絡みは、
ただの若手バンドとは一線を画すものがあり、過去のバンドから受け継がれてきたものを基盤にしつつ
モダンなメロデス風アレンジの中で、質の高いメロディと演奏を聴かせてくれる。
アメリカのコア系バンドよりも、はるかにメタルへの愛着と敬意とが音には感じられる。

メタルファンなら必聴ですよ! カーオーディオで窓ぜんかいで宣伝してます。が大して反映なしか…。ともかく聴いてみると息をのむし鳥肌ものだし最高のクオリティで聴いて後悔なし!ソロイストの時代が再訪の予感。彼らが今後どんな音楽を魅せてくれるかが本当に楽しみになります(^_^)現在ベーシスト募集中兼探索中らしいですが、他バンドにもよくあることですし…ファンの期待を裏切るアンテリアではないことを確信しています。 3、4、7、9、10のナンバーがおすすめですね。
