単なるアイドルバンドなんかじゃない(そんな目で見てる人がいるほうがおかしいけど)、天然のオルタナ感溢れる正真正銘ロックバンド、チャットモンチーが次のステージへ立ったことを証明するようなニューシングルが届けられた。

輪を描くように高揚していくサビとラストの不思議な転調が印象的なサマーロックチューン「とび魚のバタフライ」、無力な自分の嘆きや後悔を歌うヘヴィーなナンバー「世界が終わる夜に」、新たな始まりへのささやかな希望をやさしく奏でる「風」。1曲目は今までロックバンドとして振り切れなかったポップさに全力でギアを入れた飛躍作になっているし、2曲目は詞の良さとチャットモンチーのもうひとつの本質とも言える生々しさやリアリズムのスケールを広げた傑作だし、3曲目は今までなかった爽やかなアコーステッィクサウンドの挑戦作で、もう3曲3様に素晴らしい。両A面シングルということで表題2曲のバランスもいいが、個人的にはカップリングとして収録されている「風」に一番心を持っていかれた。
これはただのシングルじゃなく名曲集です。

ですが、今回も最高の出来ですよ。
前作「女子たちに明日はない」はカップリング2曲を含め、3曲とも良かったのですが、今作も傑作です。
1曲目「とび魚のバタフライ」は、これからの時期に聞きたい夏にぴったりの明るい歌、
2曲目「世界が終わる夜に」は、「恋愛スピリッツ」をイメージさせられる名曲。
3曲目「風」もいい歌。夏を感じさせられます。

既に試聴することもできます。
発売が待ち遠しいですね・・・。

「とび魚のバタフライ」はポップな面を見せる「らしい」一曲。サビに向かって上っていくような音やリズム、橋本のハイトーンボイスがすごい心地よいサマーソング。中途半端に途切れることなく、ライブでも思う存分のりきれそう。
「世界が終わる夜に」はヘヴィーなこれまた「らしい」一曲。個人的にはチャトモンチーのこういうヘヴィーな曲が好きなので、これまたうれしい。
両A面でどちらもライブで聞くのがすごく楽しみにしてくれる一枚でした。
TVしか見ずに見た目や声なんかでアイドルうんぬん言っている人には、ぜひ「ライブに行って」チャットモンチーの音を聞いて欲しいですね。なめてかかると、ガツンとやられますよ。
