CD発売前に全曲聴く機会があり、今では私のヘビーローテーションです。
ミディアムテンポの曲が多く、非常にメロディ的に良い曲が多いです。哀愁のある旋律、印象的なサビ．．
あ〜そういえば、スコーピオンズってこんな感じだったよなぁ、と２０年くらい前を思い出しています。

サウンドプロダクションもしっかりしており、ボーカルが前面に出て、ギターもちょうどよい感じに
バックに敷き詰めてあるある感じです。
The Future Never DiesとかLove Will Keep Us Aliveはシングルカットされれば確実にアメリカで
売れるでしょう。キャッチーで美しい曲です。

久しぶりのスコーピオンズはよかったなぁ〜

3回ほど全体を通して聴きましたが、やっぱり、スコーピオンズは
安心して聴けると思います。円熟した雰囲気の中に“和”のテイ
ストがたっぷり含まれている。そんな感じですかね。

楽曲面ではデズモンド・チャイルドが参加しているらしいです。
結構彼の参加が注目されたアルバムなので、著名な産業音楽の作
曲家らしいです。デズモンドに関して良くは知らないので、ちょ
こっと調べました。

bon jovi / livin' on a prayer
aerosmith / dude
ricky martin / livin' la vida loca ('99)

それぞれ日本でもヒットした曲なので、歌謡曲的な旋律をもつ
スコーピオンズと相性が良いと期待されていたようですね。

というか、それなりに長い時間をかけてレコーディング、ミッ
クスと繰り返していましたから、相性が良くないと仕事は一緒
にできませんよね。

実際、まだまだ聞き込みが足りないとは思いますが、耳にはな
じみやすいし、スコーピオンズの基本的な個性は打ち消されて
いないが、新しい側面が出てきた気もするし、楽曲もバランス
が取れて冒険が少ないところも安心して聴ける部分ではあると
思われる。

逆に、目立つ曲が少ないのかとも思われるが、彼らの曲は往々
にして後からじわじわと心地よくなるものが多く、ワインのよ
うなものだと思ってしっかり寝かせよう。

『 デズモンド・チャイルド』である。

クラウスがボンジョビやハートを歌ったらどうなるのか?唸るリフは無くコードじゃか弾きに、大袈裟なアルマゲ丼コーラスなサビ。セールスが欲しいのは解る、味を知っているのだから。
だがせっかく前作アンブレイカブルでオールドファンを振り向かせ拍手を浴びたのに、何故こっちの方向なのか?
確にThe Game Of Loveや321のような蠍節が漂う曲もあるが、後はどうあがいてもデズモンド歌謡なのである。
クラウスの歌メロは際立っても、ギターワークが死ぬ。スコーピオンズはリフが命なのである。アメリカン歌謡なので聴きやすいが、別のバンドである。
スコーピオンズではなくクラウスのソロとして出して欲しかった。
